snack dude
My wife says I should pass this along to you all and I am smart enough to know somebody out there has thought of this before but here it is I have a Chevrolet G3500 box van with 223,000 miles on it . Friday the fuel pump went out on it. So after having it towed back to my shop I was thinking I did not want to drop a thirty gallon gas tank that had a quarter of a tank of gas in it. So I located the fuel pump on top of the tank made some measurements and with a circular saw cut a 12" X 12" hole in the floor of the box over the location of the fuel pump. The floor is wood and fiberglass and it happen to be in a place where I stack my 20 oz bottles. Took the old fuel pump out installed a new one, went to home depot bought a couple of steel straps and pan head screws and put the floor back and back on the road. Elaspe time just under three hours and saved about $500 in labor cost having somebody else do it. Total cost was the cost of the pump and the steel straps and screws. The next time I wont even have to have it towed. I posted this in hopes it would help somebody out. Snack dude
mission vending
With 220K miles on it already I think the wheels will fall off before the new fuel pump goes bad. Not a bad solution either, think I'll file that one away somewhere.

Actually it is in pretty good shape there is no damage it looks good when its clean and everything works Now that I said that it will probably drop a piston tomorrow
