JEREMYTINA
Unbelievable...I was working at my full time job today, and Tina was home with the kids. She goes out for two hours and when she comes back, she pulls in the garage to find the door to the interior of our home open. She leaves the kids in the van while she goes to see what's going on. As she's going into the house the guys that were inside go running out and make their getaway. They completely wrecked the doorframe and lock on the side door to get in, and ransacked the entire house. They pulled out all of the drawers in our dressers, stole a few hundred bucks in cash from the bedroom, 2 flat panel TVs, camcorder, 12mp camera, gift cards from Christmas, all of Tina's jewelry, My daughters IPod, DVDs, Nintendo DS, her computer, the list goes on and on. They even stole pillow cases off the bed to pack all the stuff in. They did however leave the coin bag alone that had the other half of our route pull from the month in it. Perhaps the 65lbs of coins was too much for them.....But the lord blessed us in the fact that our laptop with all of our business information, stops, financials, etc right on top of the entertainment center. The cop seemed to think it was unlikely we would catch whomever did it. This sucks.
mission vending
Sorry to hear of your troubles. What would you have done if they got the computer with all the business info?
sherlock
Man, I am truly sorry about this. I'm also pretty pissed. I hate thieves. My home has been broken into twice in my life. Once while living with my parents as a child and once as an adult living with my wife. Both times the feelings of frustration, sadness, anger, and fear were very hard to shake. But, when it happened to me as a kid was the roughest. Remember that everything they took can be replaced and everything that was broken can be repaired. I know that's easier said than done, but try to use that truth to get you through this...and be extra loving to your kids. That will make a world of difference to them. whaletail116
I'm glad to hear that no one was hurt during the incident. I'm sorry for your loss and feel sympathy for both parties. Their lives must be pretty pathetic.
Bocephus
That is why you pay homeowners insurance. Sucks, but at least it didn't happen while your wife and kids were at home.
caserri
Very sorry to hear this Jeremy. Be very thankful that the golphers fled when Tina entered. It could have turned into a very different and horrifying situation had they not.
Quarter Master
My prayers are with the both of you. I'm sure you both feel very violated. Well, I guess it's time to invest in that alarm system you've thought about. Good luck to you and yours.
JEREMYTINA
Sorry to hear of your troubles. What would you have done if they got the computer with all the business info?I can't imagine them being crafty enough to go steal my machines if they found all of the location info, but it would be possible. That would be a massive amount of work to rebuild all of that information. Thank you Lord for looking out for us there! We've got extra dead bolts installed now, and the alarm company is coming Saturday to set us up with video and entry alarms to be set up on cell service. davidsurvz
This kind of stuff ticks me off !!!! I have worked in the electronic security industry for over 14 years and it just bugs me when I hear this kind of stuff. I am really sorry to hear about this. If you pm me I can point you to some good information on steps you can take to help prevent this kind of stuff in the future. Once again I really am sorry to hear about this. caserri
Jeremy, I agree, give David a PM. He helped me tremendously with a lot of great info on electronically securing my home. He even referred me to some local security companies who use reliable equipment and told me what not to use. For the record, I prefer a dual layer of protection. An electronic one for notification purposes and a mechanical one (cold blue steel) for rectification purposes.

An electronic one for notification purposes and a mechanical one (cold blue steel) for rectification purposes. I also feel that a personal protection device of the mechanical variety is a fantastic way of taking care of midnight intrusions, I am currently only allowed to have my aluminum bat with our three small children at home. Tina feels they are too smart for their own good, and that any risk of an accident is not acceptable. So I will just have to practice at the range for the next 17 years or so. Well, for now, at least go with the electrical option. Maybe there will be a time for the mechanical option later. Besides, unless your wife would have been carrying the mechanical version, it would have been of no help in the situation she just went through. In fact, it may have just been something else stolen out of the home and put to bad use.
antoniocinisi
I am sorry to hear this.I hope they catch these people.I hate thieves.if i WERE TO CATCH A THIEF IN THE ACT EVEN NOT ON MY PROPERTY I would try to knock him out.
Hillbilly
If I caught one in my home stealing I would shoot him. But with kids sitting in the car in the garage makes it a different story.
JEREMYTINA
David, thanks for pointing us in the right direction. The insurance company is already trying to stiff arm us. Luckily, we will have receipts for almost all of the stuff that was taken. We are looking for pictures of the rest.

You can get a small gun safe that can be set up to only open with a thumbprint. Unless they cut your thumb off it'll keep the little ones out, that's what I used for several years. JEREMYTINA
Regardless of how I try to sell the gun for home protection, Tina is not buying. I like the thumbprint safe idea though. I am getting a safe to install on the floor of our closet this week. ADT didn't work out. Broadview is coming Wednesday.
Poplady1
Our home was being broken into often...we figured out they were coming in the bedroom window. They seemed to always know when we were not home. It took several more break ins, plus a Barney Fife type detective for us to finally catch the sob. Barney did a unexpected great job of hidding in our barn watching and waiting... It was one of our route drivers. A teacher working for us during his summer break. He came to us recommended by a friend. We ended up getting most of the money back. He had even stole a guy we had in the gun closet. We got that back too. But it left a terrible taste in our mouth concerning our home. It took a long time to feel safe again. So try to put this behind you...add a alarm system if you don't have one. I don't think a gun will help. The police told us we could only shoot them inside our home. If we shot them outside they told us to pull them inside before calling them. Of course they must have been kidding...I think. Poplady
antoniocinisi
I think you have to feel your life is in danger while the guy is in your house to be able to shoot him.i think u cant shoot the guy if he is unarmed either, otherwise he can sue you.only in america......... caserri
While I normally do not advocate violence, I will say that I have no issue whatsoever with shooting a person should that person threaten my family and I don't care if that person was in my home, front yard, or on the courthouse steps.
