sterling
What do you do when your pulling the coin tray and some kid trys to grab a handful of quarters from it? This has happened to me two times. The first it was a little kid and a sibling intervened. The second time was yesterday. This time it was a Downs Syndrome kid. I don't think he could even speak he was so bad off. I felt bad about slapping his hand away. I then gave him a quarter for the machine.
Hillbilly
I think you did the right thing. I would have given him some quarters too.
dapreachaman
I have been very fortuante to never have this happen. I am not sure how I would handle it. It sounds like you did the right thing. I think i am with you to give him a quarter or two. I might even want to show him how to use the machine. Maybe he will grab a few from his folks for more play. lurtsman
I set up my service times in an attempt to avoid having children around who may try to steal product or coins. I also try to get machines that are built like tanks.

Sterling, I have never had that happen. But, I think your reaction was fine...giving the quarter was a kind gesture.
Rick Falcon
I think you did the rite thing Sterling, never happen to me before but when ever I'm out servicing my machines and I spot a kid looking at me I'll give him a toy or some free candy.

The kid started yelling that there was a "big man" who passed out?! Or once a dropped a bunch of quarters and a kid started picking them up and putting them in his pocket. I guess you can't let it get to you. You done well.

fronk327
You did the right thing by giving him a couple of quarters.
mizugori
I know it's tough but personally I would prefer to service during off hours as well... I don't have any issue with giving kids a free toy here and there but the thought of kids racing by trying to grab handfuls of quarters puts a knot in my stomach. lak20019
I too, would work around school schedules to service machines. I don't need them drawing attention to how many quarters I'm getting out of the machine.
lurtsman
In summer it will be much harder to plan my service times that way. Open 1 machine at a time, pour the quarters into a cloth bag--inside a duffle bag. When I have more than 200-300$ I switch bags. Any time I'm moving to a new account, I switch bags. If kids come by I occasionally hand out a free toy, but I try to time it so I can be gone before they realize they can come back and ask for more free toys.
