I HATE new lieing vendstar operators..

Well it seems I have someone else in my route areas placing machines..Brand new Vendstars.. he doesnt even fill the candy up much..there is only around a inch of candy in all 3 compartments of all the machines Ive seen around. He is using the Ronald McDonalds house as a charity. Well he was in one of my towns about 30 minutes from me.. he was only in one of my locations and its a corporate account of mine and I have a contract to do all their vending (full line and bulk).. so I called the guy and got a answering machine..told him NICELY who I am and that he has a triple head candy machine at this place and he needs to remove it asap please since we have a contract. I also told the manager of the place that when he walks in it needs to be taken out.. I go back a week later and sure enough its still there..

It erked me but I dont wanna cause a big scene about it since the contract we have for the account was drawn up with a older regional manager and the main manager signed on to it since he agreed with the regional manager.. well now there is a new regional manager and he is kind of a golpher..so i dont wanna risk making my commissions higher or anything like that..so im letting it slide..

Well then yesterday, I go to another town..sure enough.. same vendstars.. same everything.. in this town he is beside me in 2 locations..one is a resturant but I am one of many machines (like 9 all together) so no biggy there..we all will be kicked out some day I assume lol.. and the other is a tractor sales place which averages 10.00 a month on a single head gum machine..so IM not to worried here either..

Now this is where it hes bothering me.. I come home to my town today from my route and go to the local bar to see a old friend (shes the bartender) sure enough there is a Vendstar.. so i ask about it with her.. she said yea some guy came in and spoke to Greg (the owner) told him ALL the money goes to charity..every quarter in the machine helps little kids.. I assured her that he was lieing to her and Greg and that a portion of the money goes to charity but the guy is pocketing most of it. The machine was moved to the back..

then to come and find out.. I drive around town and look and he has 2 more out in some of my good locations (1 mexician and 1 Chinese buffet)

Like I said I dont mind the competition but this guy needs to stop telling these people that all the money goes to chairty when it does.. I tell all my charity locations up front how much we donate to charity.. that way I can run a HONEST business.

Im not sure this is the right place to post this but I had to vent and I knew you guys would listen  :o

Wow. That not only is bad ju-ju but it completely misrepresents what REAL charity vending is all about. I feel you did the right thing by telling your friend at the bar about the scam. Does he have any contact info? if so, I'd call him up and tell him to get out yo kool-aid lol.

Hearing this story makes me wonder. I have a similar guy in my home town that is flippin everywhere. (Im pretty sure its not you Kevin  ;) ) Theyre all the same charity so I assume its the same vendor anyway. And Im like a ghost following in this guy's EXACT route. I even picked the sketchiest auto shop and sure enough as soon as I walk in,  BOOM! His Machines <--insert John Madden voice for effect.

Oh well. Plenty of fish in the sea of vending I suppose.

maybe he is giving all the money ot charity. why do you assume otherwise? maybe he's wealthy and has nothing better to do with his time.

maybe you should have given him the benefit of the doubt. is his ugly vendstar really hurting your sales that much?

Except most people are not so altruistic.

It's a reasonable assumption to make that in a business that clearly has it's own operating expenses, 100% of the money would not be donated to charity.  Sometimes it takes someone familiar with the business to be a little more savvy to the smell of something fishy.

Even charities themselves don't give 100% of the money away.  A charity with paid employees might give away 60-70% of the money they receive.

I'm not saying it's not possible, it's just highly doubtful.

I assure you, that if you plunk down the money to buy machines, product, and spend your time, its not 100% charity. I am damn near an all charity vendor, there is no way I would do it for free!!

This board is full of charity haters.

I hope that's not really how you feel.

I would guess your comment is just a joke.

All my experience here shows the majority of Vendiscuss members doing bulk are doing charity vending in some way shape or form...even if they also have commission locations.

If you are serious, your comment is incorrect.

This board is also full of Vendstar haters.  That is why so many of you encounter the struggles you have.  You are in vending for the wrong reasons.  This world is not about you.  Vending offers the opportunity to change the world and all you bulk vendors think about is wrestling with other vendors at locations.

Why does sharing locations bother you anyway. I share half of my locations and I am not complaining.  If it bothers a person by sharing locations then they are in the wrong business.  People who are in this business for the right reasons will prevail and the ones who are in this business for the wroing reasons will turn tail.

So, this forum is full of people who hate charity vendors.

You are a charity vendor.

It's also full of people who hate Vendstars.

Vendstars is all you operate as a charity vendor.

What do you like about this place?

I have to say that I have run into many locations that think all of the money goes to charity. We have been very upfront about it.  I had a location that I did a service call at today, and he asked how much money goes to charity.  I explained to him , that we give $1 per month for each of our locations to NCCS, and that that amount does not change.  I also explained that we give 10% to our church regardless of how good or bad we do every month.  I explained to him that some vendors offer commission, but what value does a couple of bucks a month really provide for the store owner?  Charity vendors give a contracted amount every month.  He was genuinely surprised, and told me that if I would like to put a larger setup in, he would be happy to have it.  We will be placing a 4 head rack there with toys and gumballs shortly.

As far as Vendstars,  I don't like them personally, but they sell great on EBay.  I am personally eradicating them from my area, by purchasing all that are available for sale, and selling them for a tidy profit. ;D  There will always be competition. I know that we weren't the first people vending in our area, and we certainly aren't going to be the last.  It's our job as business owners to provide the freshest product, the best service, and to project the most professional image to our customers.  If someone else does it better, shame on me.  If someone else continues to do it better,  I won't be around very long.  Have passion for what you do!  Don't be scared of competition, crush it!

I don't have a problem with Vendstars.  I have a problem with the company that sells them at a ridiculous price, pie in the sky ideas of how much you can make, and the use of crappy locators to "help" the uninitiated person find those $5 a month locations.

But I have to say you need to do your homework on this issue.  It sucks that so many people are taken in by the Biz-Op, but people do need to learn to do research before plunking down thousands of dollars.

I think charity vending is a great thing, and people need to make sure they can help support a cause they actually believe in.  A person should never lie to get a location.  If people ask me questions about it, i will be completely honest about everything.

it should be pointed out that there are some people who are even told that only a portion of the proceeds or profits goes toward the charity, and they still think that all of it does.  Anyone who says that 100% goes to a charity when it doesn't is committing fraud.

But if we can help support a cause we believe in, and at the same time make money for ourselves, that is a good thing.

Last year we were involved with the Relay for Life.

http://www.relayforlife.org

I am thinking of donating a couple of machines for the day this year, plus the candy, and giving 100% of everything that goes into those machines to the American Cancer Society.

I am giving out this idea so everyone here can steal it.

Considering this thread is plagued with people who would have a hard time debating green apples are green... let's change the subject.

What is "lieing" and why do so many people use it?

As for the OP:

Talk to the owners of your location about the new machines.  Make sure to keep your cool and bring it up in a way that benefits them.  Make a logical conversations with the owners on what is going on.  "This guy is lying I know it because I'm right" is not a good way to go about it.  As for giving someone the benefit of the doubt, I've never heard or personally seen someone claim 100% charity and have it be correct with a vending machine.  I may as well ignore the buy breaking into my house; maybe he just needs to use the bathroom.

I guess I'm the one nobody ever heard of. I got into vending for the sole purpose of helping with costs for our Non-Profit Animal Rescue Organization. All procedes generated from my machines benefit the organization.  That's 100% charity.

Good for you Bacho.

If you don't already, I suggest you put that statement on  your machine(s) somewhere.

100% of the proceeds going to charity is something customers/locations should know.

Otherwise you may get lumped in with the folks who only "say" 100% to charity.

Did that from day one. I created customized labels specifically for the organization. It also has either the locations name or logo on the label, thanking them.

If the guy gives all  of his money to the charity or only a part of it. Is not  for you to say.

I use child search. No  Commission and i  pay them 20 dollars a month for stickers. Because  i have 20 machines..

Are you trying to say that i would be a Crook. I also  give  10% to  back to God. Because  the bible says i am to  do that.

Bacho, I think what you are doing is great. I also think for every one person who does what you are doing there are many more pretending who do not walk the walk. How did you find enough time to help out like that? I personally could not survive running a vending business if I did not have the machines paying for themselves.
