Wide vs. Narrow

when looking at machine capacities what is this wide and narrow stuff? (again pulling out the newbie flag and waving it around)

Wide is traditionally 5 across on the chips (maybe 6 now) and narrow is 4 across. But with 6 and 3 wide snacks it can be misleading. But for the most part it is 5 and 4 (40 select vs 32 select)

So with a soda machine it would be two different models?

In a beverage machine it can refer to the width of the machine or width of the columns. In what context do you need to know this?

When looking at capacities for different size packaging on soda machines it says "20 oz. wide xx narrow xx" wide is higher than narrow. I was wondering if there were two different models or something.

Let me take a stab at it.....

A soda machine can have a narrow columns and wide columns.  For example, a DN 600E has one wide column and 8 narrow columns.  A narrow column will hold 12 oz cans pretty much in a straight line, 3 cans deep.  A wide column will hold the cans kind of staggered, so in the same vertical height that will hold 2 stacks in a narrow column, you may get three stacks in a wide column.....
