B.V.O.
**PLEASE NOTE THIS INFORMATION IS FOR BULK VENDING ONLY** PERMITS/LICENSE Well time for some Canadian content, I was hoping that grumpy or Gourmet might have posted on here already. But, I got to dig up some great info. I first looked here: http://www.canadabusiness.ca/servlet/ContentServer?cid=1108986667460〈=en&pagename=CBSC_ON%2Fdisplay&c=GuideFactSheet Unforunately Vending was not listed so I called their toll free #: 1-800-668-7380 Here's what I was told, in Canada you do not require a Federal or Provincial License but that it is up to the Municipality that you place machines as to what you may need to place machines. They gave me the number to call my Municipality office. The great part about the call was that they sent me a bunch of free info (via e-mail) like Business Plan Guide, Start-up Info, Canadian Food Inspection Agency Info, Registering a Business Name and Tax Info. **There was a disclaimer at the bottom of my e-mail so I did not include information word for word or the links; but if you want it, it's as easy as calling the toll-free number** So I called my local Municipality office and they said I did not require a permit or license for bulk vending. What we have in Ontario is a "Food Shop License". This is the license that stores have to have in order to sell food. The Municipality office questioned if it was okay for me to place machines in other buildings without the "Food Shop License" and that I had to call the local Health Department. Called the local Health Department left a message and they called back within 15 minutes. A bulk vending machine is not covered by the "Food Premises Regulations" meaning that I am good to go with vending in my city. If I were to vend with sandwiches or anything that can grow bacteria those would be covered by the "Food Premises Regulations" (I didn't find anymore info regarding it as I won't be doing it anytime soon). So people in Ontario it's up to your local Municipality office as to whether or not you are required a license or a permit to do bulk vending. BUSINESS PLAN Heres a site that has basic information regarding a Canadian Business Plan: http://www.canadabusiness.ca/servlet/ContentServer?cid=1081945275379〈=en&pagename=CBSC_ON%2Fdisplay&c=GuideFactSheet Check out the Interactive Business Planner here (*The IBP is not intended to replace legal, accounting or other professional services or advice.*): http://www.canadabusiness.ca/ibp/en/ BUSINESS REGISTRATION Forms of Business Registration: http://www.canadabusiness.ca/servlet/ContentServer?cid=1081945275353〈=en&pagename=CBSC_ON%2Fdisplay&c=GuideFactSheet Registering Your Business Name in Ontario: http://www.cbs.gov.on.ca/mcbs/english/5HSSN6.htm Incorporating a Business Corporation: http://www.cbs.gov.on.ca/mcbs/english/5HTTCP.htm Federal Incorporation: http://strategis.ic.gc.ca/epic/site/cd-dgc.nsf/en/h_cs01914e.html EVERYTHING ELSE: http://www.canadabusiness.ca/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=CBSC_ON/display&c=GuideInfoGuide&cid=1085667968434〈=en Hope it helps, it certainly helped me. grumpy
Anton, don't have much too add other than you will have to get a PST number for submitting PST taxes on that quarter vend (think the start is 22 cents) GST number not needed for quarter vend but anything higher and it is needed. (think it starts at .27 cents) Also you are responsible for reporting and submitting PST on all used equipment purchases. This also includes out of country and provinces new or used (technically if you purchase something at a garage sale you must submit the PST) Grumpy You may want to find a long time vender to ask these tax questions or call your local office. kulza
Thanks for the info. I'm in Manitoba, so I guess I'll have to check with my municipality for the specifics.
