dpvnc
I was out locating the other day. I stopped in to this business which appeared to be fairly new. They were selling some nintendo stuff and had some tables for kids to play magic ( Not really sure what that is ) So I started to give the lady my pitch I explained the free to her part, the commission part. Would she be interested? She starts by saying she saw a tv special about bugs in a vending machines. I told her sure it does happen but usually if the machines are negelected. I said I also vend toys bouncy balls etc. She says oh those won't sell here. ( At one location the day before I had to make change for a 40+ year old man to get two bouncy balls) So I start winding it up. She says I'll have to talk to my husband he'll be here at five but he is the same as me about bugs. I explained I could not wait till five. I have a location to service in another town. I said I'll stop back by ( thinking not on your life) She says do you have a card sorry fresh out I reply EXIT STAGE LEFT!!!!!! The longer I talked to this woman the more I got the feeling it would be trouble for me to put a machine there.

Quarter Master
I totally understand your mindset on this one-BUT, just be carefull in your responses. You never know who these people may know (other business owners). I always treat everyone with the same courteous manor and always leave a business card.Sure, they may not want your services, but in them talking to other business owners, that first impression is always the one that lasts. mission vending
Don't be so quick to dismiss, that type of personality can be very difficult to deal with and will test your patience at times. On the other hand if you get in there and win them over they will stay with you for life because you "delivered" so to speak on your promises. Besides what's the worst thing that could happen? they kick you out later on? You get fed up and pull the machine? No Big Deal
hutchdavidson
If you think the location would make good money I would think its more important to just get the machine in there and worry about dealing with the owner when it comes. As was just said the worst that could happen is they kick you out or you pull it.
agrantha
You must remember...that is their place of business, not yours. Let people do with their business as they will. Our job is to offer a desired service...not to force our will on poeple or invade their space. You should have repied "Yes mam....I understand your concern. This does happen with abandoned machines. Here is my business card if you change your mind".
havending
I would stop by a few more times and pitch to either her or hubby or both. Harder to get lications are somtimes the best.
dpvnc
My personal expierence is that if it starts off bad it is going to end badly. There are people in this world today just looking for a reason to sue people. I am not saying all people are bad. There is a segment of our soceity that are looking to cause others grief. My gut feeling told me this was one of those situations. There are many locations out there and I chose not to pursue this one any further based on that feeling. If this business was not new and had been in that location for the last couple years. I would possibly go back and try again. But I will be willing to bet that they will not be there long. One of the perks to be self employed is I get to choose who I do business with. If I get a bad or uneasy feeling about an account I will pull my equipment. There are to many other locations out there for me to do business with someone that I am uncomfortable with. I follow my gut too Dave.

Profits
if they sell nintendo stuff and have a magic table for kids to play the magic card game, what crack pipe is she smoking that leads her to believe toys wouldn't sell?? Every location owner wants to think their traffic is so incredibly proprietary that nobody passing through their store would want / accept anything other than what the store owner would personally want / accept. What they fail to realize is that their traffic also visits other stores, and buys other things. What they also fail to realize is that traffic is not generated by the mere act of herding people through the door, and sales are not made merely because you're selling something. What every shop owner should get through their ignorant heads is this: Having a larger selection of products leads to a larger flow of traffic. Walmart is the largest retailer because they carry everything. The guy who owns the 7-11 down the street wants to believe Walmart is kicking them to the curb because of their ability to promote on a massive scale. Most people engaged in commerce don't have a clue.
