dpvnc
I have a 4 head Sticker/Tattoo machine painted in brown wrinkle paint. Any one ever painted over that type of paint?
lakevending
I haven't had to deal with it on a vending machine, but I have done DIY on house stuff and fixtures. Any kind of textured paint job is a complete pain to deal with. Sometimes you can cover it up with another type of textured paint, like a hammered coat. Otherwise you have to either knock down any peaks with steel wool before you can repaint (but some wrinkle coats have cracks in them which, if painted over with a smooth coat will also look uneven), or have the paint removed by sandblasting or something similar prior to repainting. If it's in good shape, you might just want to leave the wrinkle coat on rather then deal with refinishing it.
dperry
I've often used a paint remover called Jasco. It's a gel, and it works quite well. You paint it over the surface that you want removed, wait a few minutes, then use a putty knife to scrape down to the metal. A little treatment with some steel wool around the edges and you should have a nice clean surface to paint.
