jb5580
It happened again today. This time I had called and gotten an okay from the contact person they gave me so I felt pretty good. Well I bring my machine up to the Sushi Rest. today and speak with the contact person. As I'm giving her the charity paperwork and asking her were she would like the machine, the owner starts yelling from over the sushi counter in Japanese to the ladies. They are going back and forth, and finally she tells me sorry the owner does not want the machine. I try to work the commission pitch, but no luck. So I pack up my machine and bring it back with me. This is my second trip out with machines in this order, to get rejected and turned around. The other 2 I called to verify and the kickstart callers had secured the order with the wrong person so they got rejected during my phone call. Ive never had this problem with kickstart before, its almost like they have callers just getting yeses from anyone, just to get a yes wheather its for real or not. I'm not sure what to do at this point, is anyone else having a similar experience?

I'm not sure what to do at this point, is anyone else having a similar experience? I have been dealing with KickStart for almost two years. They have provided me with top notch service until now. I hope their reason for disruption is due to the holidays and they will get back on track. That being said, if the holidays are causing them to have problems than this should be communicated with their customers. Rob usually responds to my emails within 24 hours and finds me a location within 1 to 3 days. I sent him an email early yesterday and am awaiting his reply. Some advise: If you find a good locator, get as many machines located as possible because good locators are few and they may buckle at any time. caserri
Some advise: If you find a good locator, get as many machines located as possible because good locators are few and they may buckle at any time. That is some great advice. I've seen it happen on this forum many times. A new locator will pop up and get really great reviews for a month or two then the golpher hits the fan. It has been documented over and over again. Just look at the early reviews of any locator here. If you find one that produces, you've got to go all in while the gettin' is good. Jax Snacks
I had the same problem lately with KS - locators not getting legitimate permission. I chalk it up to an area being extremely saturated and their locating techinques no longer able to get decent spots in those highly saturated areas. To use an analgy, locating is a bit like picking fruit. We hire someone to go pick fruit for us. When that fruit is plentiful, the low lying fruit is easy and picked first and we ara all happy. But as more pickers pick that fruit off, it becomes more challenging to find quality fruit (takes weeks to get spots). Somtimes a locators technique can only get the easy fruit (getting a "yes" on the first call), but they also refuse to adjust their strategy to get the harder fruit, say up higher in the trees or on the side of the mountain (like making more follow up phone calls). But when there appears to be no fruit left to pick, some will start throwing in rotten fruit off the ground (not getting permission or turning a "no" into a "maybe" or a claiming a "maybe" is a "yes" or getting permission from a low level clerk who has no authority, etc.). This is only explanation I can find for locator inconsistency between vendors. The locator needs to start understanding the saturation level of a given area before taking the order, after all they are supposed to be professionals. If a locator hits a "picked" area, he should simply stop and refund the money and move on, rather than resort to questionable or unethical techniques. One way to solve this problem. NEVER prepay for locating services again! Only pay when the location is installed! I currently have 3 locators working for me and none of them require deposits and have delivered acceptable results (two even being flipped to racks). Continue to use only the no-money-down locators. Or start placing ads in Craigs List for work-at-home moms who will make the calls without deposits. To heck with this pre-paid crap!

I've requested a refund from Rob, I'll let you guys know how that goes. I will also patiently wait for LRU, at least they dont take your money first and their prices are better. Also, as some of you remember my Mom does some locating from time to time, so I got her calling today and BAM, she lands me a Popular chain Steak Rest! It's going to be in the back with the employees, but I think it should do pretty good.
JLM Vending
Yea i don't know what happened with Kickstart. It's like they were ok for a couple years, then all of a sudden for all of us they declined rapidly and seemed to drop the ball. But the thing is if they keep doing that, they will lose their reputation. So I would think Rob has to rethink the way he operates. Otherwise it will do him no good.
