Secondly, the vendor is able to place his/her machines in retail locations by sharing the charity's service message with the retailers. sweetgypsy
FYI, I just contacted Make A Wish and they said they have no vend program. Too bad because I like that non-profit. I'll continue the search. Gypsy

in2vending
This looks to be a good choice. I sent my paperwork in today. Hugs Not Drugs 561-585-7771 http://www.hugsnotdrugs.org They have a nice easy registration process for vendors.
sweetgypsy
Thanks for the info. I have a couple emails out there that haven't been answered. One to a local charity and the other to Child Search Alert. CSA actually has a vend section on their web site so that bodes well. Plus the woman I bought the route from was affiliated with them so everything is in place already. Thanks, Gypsy

caserri
Thanks BP. I use the NCCS, I wonder why they are not listed at the top? I really need to speak with the board administrator. This is un-acceptable! Steve

bacho
Here's a new one I found. American Assoiciation For Lost Children (AAFLC) http://www.aaflc.org/ It cost $1 per month for a sticker. 25 or more will receive a free T-Shirt. Talked to them today. There's no price listed on the web site. You also get litiature for the program and 1 month is free. In other words, you pay the initial $1 this month and you will not be charged until the end of April for the month of April. So March will be free. mvalanoski
I don't think I saw it anywhere else on the forum, by the National Children's Cancer Society has a very exceptional vending outreach program with $1.50/month labels and a $12/year advance. http://www.nationalchildrenscancersociety.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=253&srcid=
Lee M
Many years ago, I traveled to Valley Forge, PA ... where Hugs Not Drugs was based to meet personally with Ruth Harris, Founder. I got a complete tour of the operation! Very impressive, as she is very dedicated to helping children and families! Who knows, if I decide to get involved with Bulk Vending ... Hugs Not Drugs charity will be strongly considered! Lee
Jay-Son Vending
Just a thought... I have found that using a local cause..charity works best...I realize that if you have a large route that crosses town lines this may make for more label work and/or more record keeping....BUT In my area, a prominent local family had a tragedy and they have a foundation...I also use the local food pantry and the local fuel bank. I have made a label that encompases all three charities and place it on the machine..When I explain this to folks..I tell them that depending on the time of year..I will make the donation quarterly to the charity that needs it most.... joebob051977
National Children's Cancer Society has a POOR rating according to www. charitynavigator.com because it has a very low percentage of the donations actually going towards the families. Only 62% of the money donated makes it to families of children who have cancer. The rest is tied up in administration costs and salaries. Their president makes over $200,000 a year. I think it is a good cause but I think that $200,000 a year is kind of high for a non-profit.
KC135NAV
We used www. charitynavigator.com also to check on National Children's Cancer Society. They have a one star (out of 5) rating. We went to check because that's who our locator had suggested and we went with them for 10 of our 30 machines. We called NCCS HQ and were told 83% goes to fund programs. Zannah
We considered National Federation for the Blind because we have family who are blind and sever eye diseases that run in our family. However, looking at their information, they seemed to be more involved in lobbying and public policy as opposed to direct assistance to the blind. We then went with NCCS because they made it so simple and easy to sign-up and because most of the money goes directly to help pediatric cancer patients and their families. We would like to do something local, and had approached our son's Boy Scout troop first. However, they showed little interest and objected that the machines might get vandalized *because* of the affiliation with the Boy Scouts. They said the controversial policies of the national organization have led to confrontations at fund raising events in the past.
sterling
The charity I use is Childrens Hospital. Most cities have one. Once they put you into their system they send you newsletters and you can pick the area you want the money to go to. Not to mention some of my locations say they say no to everyone, but for Children's Hospital they let me put in the machine, and they are better than average locations!
