jammed shim

Try un-plugging the machine first to see if it releases the pressure of the rotor on the shim. If that doesn't work look and see if there is a plastic lever on the motor. It is on the older Dixie's I have and it is used to clear jams in the rotor. With the machine unplugged flip the lever up and the motor reverses slightly to release the product. It may work for your jammed shim as well.

With the machine unplugged, Hold down the brake on the vend motor if it has one, some do and some don't and see if you can turn the cup counter clockwise by hand to a point that it will loosen its grip on the shim. If that won't work for you, you can reverse the motor manually by turning the armature using a small screwdriver, but this is a long process.
