grumpy Posted September 29, 2007 Share Posted September 29, 2007 Well I ordered Vending Magic 5.0 on ebay for $49.99 plus $10.00 shipping. I have loaded it and have been browsing through it. First blush opinion without really using it. Not very user friendly, old looking, kind of amateurish programming and slow, data is entered into the tables live which slows the process down abit. As I delve deeper into this program I will update my experience with it. But at this point I would suggest you save your money. grumpy Posted October 7, 2007 Author Share Posted October 7, 2007 Hi Steve, not much to report as I was out of town to a conference and brought my laptop but had no time. I did setup 1 machine with 8 mechs and it took close to an hour. Now I'm not a fast typist but that was long. The program does not seem to be able to handle racks easly. I did figure a work around for cut and paste where the information remains the same in a new record. But it is a pain. If I used this program prior to buying it I would not purchase it, oh well there goes $60.00. I know Steve does not want product bashing on the the forum, but This program is the worst program I have ever tried in software, freeware, shareware and commercialware. I have written a couple of custom programs for clients and I would have been embarassed to have provided that program as a first draft never mind a finish product. I will not be using this program as it is too clumsy for any kind of productive use, there seems to be no flow to its use, pen and paper is way faster, spreadsheets are more usefull then this program; guess I will have to wait for baxson's program. But after servicing, I had issues with actually typing in the dollar amount of service. I was able to put everything in, except the dollar amount, and it wouldn't let me type it in. Vendingguy Posted November 30, 2007 Share Posted November 30, 2007 Thanks Grumpy, I had to swap over to explorer and punch in everything....And yes, I love this software now....I broke everything down and keeps everything nice and neat for me- all easy to read, understand, and use...........I will be purchasing this software.............My only wish is that I would prefer software that I could do a 1 time purchase, and not an annual charge for service, as I can care less about the network. To make the most use of the free trial, I'd recommend signing up when you get your first machine placed. Until then you can go to the site and click the Live Demo image on the right side of the page. This will log you into a "fake" company that is complete with up to date transactions. This way you can see what Vend-Trak will eventually be able to do for you as your business grows. Happy Vending! Make sure that when you do sign up for your free trial you use the code "vendiscuss" to lock in your special VENDiscuss member price should you decide to continue with the program. You can either do this or just enter the Keycode "vendiscuss" when you sign up for the two-month free trial.
