My Thanksgiving Eve

Deb and I had a wonderful evening last night. We went to Manhattan because we received an invitation from Deb's cousin who lives on W 77th between Central Park West and Columbus Ave. The invite is an annual party that she holds for about 100 people celebrating Thanksgiving Eve and watching ALL of the Macy Day Parade balloons being blown up and ready for their big march up Broadway. There were tens of thousands of people jammed onto the sidewalks in the area to get a glimpse of the huge balloons coming alive with helium from huge trailers with helium cannisters on them. The streets were so festive and everyone was in great spirits.

The best part was the following: When we got ourselves about 3 blocks from her cousin's building, Deb went up to a police officer. Now you have to picture this. Columbus Avenue was closed off to cars AND people. So everyone were making their way to the balloons on 77TH via the jammed sidewalks. Deb asked the policeman ( after showing him our official invite if we had to walk among everyone to get to the building. The cop thought about it for a minute and then said " ok come with me and walk behind me". He opened up the barricade and allowed us onto Columbus Ave. where NOBODY was walking and proceeded to escort us to the party on W. 77th! Well........the thousands and thousands of people lining the sidewalks were all staring at us as we walked down the street I guess wondering who the heck we were that get to walk with an escort like that! It was sooooooo kewl!! Anyway we had a blast. The balloons were absolutely awesome.

Oh yeah one other thing: I forgot to bring my freakin camera!!!!!!Posted Image
