Well, it is a depiction of city sized spaceships that are in the shape of guitars, hurling away from an exploding planet. The largest ship is named “Boston” and it is in search of a new home.

The cover art was illustrated by Roger Huyssen, who was born in Los Angeles and graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Roger designed artwork for a lot of major corporations including the NFL when he designed the theme art for Super Bowls 27, and 28.

Here is the significance -- When you add 27 and 28 you get 55 which is the age that Brad Delp, the lead singer, died.

The fire pic you just added is the original album cover for Lynyrd Skynyrds "Street Survivors".

3 days after this album was released is when they suffered that charter flight crash killing the pilot, co-pilot, the group's assistant road-manager and three band members. The cover was changed to an alternate photo with an all-black background, out of respect for the deceased.
