Crazy times

The Mage

As of Friday my wife had surgery on her foot. This was actually the third one she has had, and this one resulted in her big toe being fused. But this also means that I am stuck at home taking care of her. She is not supposed to walk on her foot for 2 weeks, then only on her heel for a while after that. She is stuck on the couch for the time, and I am stuck at home taking care of her, and making sure she can get around without any issues. Pain meds and crutches don't always go together.

But she really doesn't need constant attention, but it is best if I am around if she needs anything. But this means I am home without much to do most of the time, and am using this time to put some serious work into getting VIKDR up and running.

Also I had been thinking of taking a leave of absence from work to get some serious work done, and with her surgery coming up, I decided that October 2nd would be a great time to start it.

I do apologize to anyone who was wanting this up sooner, but I was not happy with what I had produced, and went to work redesigning the whole thing from the ground up. Not only am I using what I learned building the app the first time, I have been taking some home study courses specific to this task. We are talking about over 40 hours of videos, and that is only if I wasn't pausing them all the time to follow through with the lessons that is at least tripling the time. (This doesn't include further research I have been performing.)

During a recent vacation, I took a 5 subject notebook, and spent time designing the whole project, from the database, to how the interface works, and connects. There are still aspects I will need to work on, but the framework is pretty much designed. By the way that 5 subject notebook is over half full.

My database is rebuilt for the most part, and I am already filling it with data as I test out my app as I am building it.

Somehow this has turned from a project into a mission that I need to see come to fruition.
