Give them a gift. Have a roll of Life Savers in your pocket for the receptionist. Awful hard to say no when gravy is dripping down your chin. Just my thoughts what are yours? I try to take care of the receptionists because they often have the most pull to get the good messages to the right people and keep the bad messages from going to the wrong people. Protect their supply and they'll take care of you! I have made a few gift baskets for some customers... they really seem to like it and ask if they can keep the gift basket, in which I promptly tell them "You can do whatever you want with it!
