JLM Vending
Sh*t. Today sucked folks. I think i have had it with the u turns. Still took me hours just to sort out all 15 products that Im selling on my route and do all the preparation work. I can't do this no more. With so many products this is not a business. I can't keep track anymore. Today I went to my first spot and I didn't get out of my car. I was gonna try do do all 30 spots today and told myself this sucks, I don't want to deal with this. Realistically i don't think i could have done 30 in a day. I never felt like this before. But it's especially the 8 selects. 4 selects are a little better but they still rarely catch all my quarters. So i just bailed out today and don't want to do it today. I was thinking i should sell most of my u turns. Problem is i don't really even want to pick them up or replace them because who's gonna buy it on ebay? That in itself will be a hassle. Can i just sell them as is on the route? How does that work? Im still the one paying for the charity stickers. Does it get converted over to them? Shoot, i hate to say this. But it's not the servicing i don't like. It's the too many products i have and all the coin splattering, the 45 minute service spots. I fricken hate it!!! My friend just does singles and says he's out of the business in a few minutes, that is what i would have liked. But for now still stuck with all these uturns/terminators and am still gonna have to service all 30 of them soon. Any advice would be good. Im open. But for now still stuck with all these uturns/terminators and am still gonna have to service all 30 of them soon. Any advice would be good. Im open. My advice would be to start by having a positive attitude. I know its extra work and time consuming to pick all of those quarters up but you have to do it in order to get paid. Next start cutting back on the amount of products available to about 8-10 no more than that. I used to do about 30 uturns in a day. It can be done and it makes for a long day but you get it done and then you don't have to do it again until next cycle. As for selling I would sell route as is with machines on location and list it on Craigslist. I would stay away from Ebay because you will have to ship and then pay ebay a fee also. This will take extra time and expense to do. You will probably take it in the shorts if you bought machines from uturn new because you will not get back what you spent on it. My guess is you probably could get $125-150+ per machine and $200 for machine and location depending how well the location is doing. Hope this helps. JLM Vending
Treadmill do you still service u turns? Part of my route, i bought new and part i got on CL. The new ones, I will never make the investment back. What are you using now? I can't trim down my product selections because i need to sell what sells at certain places. Besides even if i got it down from 14 to 10, that is not much of a difference in the long haul because its still a lot. Maybe i do need a better attitude. But today Im not doing it. dperry
You might just have to take the loss. I had this happen to me when I started. I bought some over-priced pieces of junk. I couldn't sell them, so I ended up throwing them in the dumpster. They were nowhere need as big as a u-turn though, but I think I paid as much for one. Buy some singles and when you go to service, put the single in, and take out the u-turn. Maybe you can advertise the U-turn for parts. I see it on ebay all the time. used globes, used mechs, used body, etc.

And i have to change like 20 canisters, so it took me a long time just brushing up the canisters and putting in the stirring devices. Have you ever had a terminator? sherlock
These machines take so much labor, care, and organization. You need to take a hard look at yourself before deciding what to do. You don't have to be honest with us, but you have got to be honest with yourself. This isn't your first time griping about having to service your spots. These U-Turns are so much labor? You yourself have posted on these boards that vending is not a get-rich-quick business and that the main thing one must do to succeed in this industry is "work hard". So servicing these U-Turns is labor-intensive. So what? This is your business, handle it. Servicing should become easier the more you do it I don't care what kind of machine you own. The folks that are in-and-out of their locations efficiently didn't start out that way....they had to WORK at it. If you aren't willing to put in the time to get to where you need to, maybe you're better suited to be an employee than an entrepreneur. And there's nothing wrong with that...you just need to realize it before putting more money into this. Your terminator locations require so much care? If this is your first time owning a business, you will find that no one cares about it as much as you...and no one should. Caring is key for any entrepreneurial endeavor. Don't expect to become more carefree just because you go from terminators to singles. You will have to care MORE! Always MORE! 40 U-Turn locations need so much organization? Unless you just want a little weekend play money out of the vending industry, your route is going to have to grow to a lot more than 40 locations. And any route with triple-digit locations will require a ton more organization than a route consisting of 40 U-Turn locations. I'm not belittling you or your route. I just think you need to check your head and your heart before moving forward. Don't BS yourself when spending so much time and money in any business...owning a business of any sort is for big boys and girls.
JLM Vending
alright sherlock, I took your advice. Time to buckle up and get serious. I still am gonna try simpler machines though.
sherlock
alright sherlock, I took your advice. Time to buckle up and get serious. I still am gonna try simpler machines though. That's what I was hoping to hear JLM. They say the only difference between a pat on the back and a kick in the a$ is about 12". We all need a little kick sometimes. Change your machines if you are inclined to do so...but don't mope about. Your machines need servicing and your locations shouldn't be ignored. It's hard work owning your own business......otherwise everyone would be doing it.

JLM Vending
why did you sell them?
treadmill
why did you sell them? At the time I had a bunch of 1800 machines laying around waiting for locations. I decided to buy these 40 uturns with locations. I then decided to place some of the 1800 machines where the uturns were an overkill with product and sold them. I eventually sold all 40 uturns.
