joebob051977
Umm..........I'm assuming you are talking about a full line machine. I know this is off topic, but what do you need the modem for? What is its benefit?

caserri
I believe this is a full line question as well. I have moved it into the full line section so maybe someone here can answer. Steve
davidsurvz
If you are trying to connect a modem for communications to a vending machine than I am assuming that there is a modem interface with the type of machine you are talking about. What type of application would this be for?
alyssamma
Juan, At a high level, what you are trying to do is straightforward. Connect the modem to the machine, plug in a phone line, and you are in business. However, the details of what you are trying to do is where it gets tricky Based on you saying that English is not your first language, I'm going to take a guess at what you are trying to do. Do you need to create a website that can, via the internet, connect to a vending machine and check things like how much money it has, stock levels, etc.? Also, because you said "MDB" above I am going to assume this needs to be in Java. Is this correct? Or did you mean something else? Thx. juanmafreelance
Davidsurvz, in reality, it not a modem, modem, it is a pc embedded. The vending machine use the protocol MDB, and I need to connect a pc embedded for to collect information of the machine, can you understand me? Sorry with my english. juanmafreelance
alyssamma, it is correct all. "Do you need to create a website that can, via the internet, connect to a vending machine and check things like how much money it has, stock levels, etc.?" - Yes "Also, because you said "MDB" above I am going to assume this needs to be in Java." MDB is MultidropBus, the bus used for the vending machine. I need that my pc embedded "talk" with the machine for more later, send me the information (with modem, bluetooth, etc... it is not important). The most important is "HOW" to talk with the machine? I dont know what CONNECTORS have a vending machine for connect anything. alyssamma, can you understand me? regards.
coinvestor
Juan, What you are trying to do is establish a DEX connection with your machine. Dex is the communication standard for vending machines. The data dumps from a plug that looks like the large headphone jacks (not sure what they are called), but this jack is only in DEX ready machines. The data dumps into a basic TXT file that you would need to uses your website to translate. Here is a sample dex file: http://www.inonetechnology.com/DEX/dexfile.htm This comany sells exactly what you are looking for and can even be setup wireless. If I remeber correctly the cost is about $400 setup for a two machine bank plus $12 a month for the wireless service per bank of machines. Hope this helps, JD
alyssamma
Juan, yes, I understand you now It seems like JD gave a perfect answer to your question. Let me know if you need more info. Thx. Kevin
juanmafreelance
JD I dont understand you... If the standard vending machine is MDB... why DEX? what is? I dont understand, i'm sorry
alyssamma
Juan, look here: http://articles.directorym.net/DEX_and_MDB_a_primer_for_vendors-a878435.html You need to give us more details about what you need to do...but remember, Google is your friend
coinvestor
Juan, Like the article Kevin linked to said, MDB standard is just the connectors and voltage standard for connecting the changer and the validator to the vending machine. DEX is the data format standard. JD
juanmafreelance
But... All vending machine used DEX?? I dont find information in NAMA or EVA about DEX (the asociation of vending america and europe). Why?? regards. Juan.
alyssamma
Juan, without physically seeing the machine I am unsure if we can help you more unless you give us more info. Did you read the link I posted above? Kevin
VendSmart
Juan check out this site: http://www.cantaloupesys.com/products.html they carry wireless modems for monitoring your sales on your vending machines. They have instuctions on how to connect the units to machines so you can get an idea of what you need to connect. Hope this helps!
