I am assuming that the claw will not go left under ANY conditions meaning that after the claw drops and comes back up that it will not automatically move to the chute or back to it's home position thus causing it to stop and start flashing an error code.

I would first check left limit switch on the gantry. That is the switch that tells the claw it has traveled to the left end of the rail. You would be looking for a stuck switch, a broken/disconnected wire going to the switch or it could just be a bad switch.

Now if the claw does move to the left after the claw comes back up and completes the game cycle then you need to look at the joystick switch underneath that controls that direction. It could be damaged, disconnected or faulty.
