lurker
I've been keeping an eye out for these for months now. The first request I had for a certain candy was for Peanut Butter M&M's. I replied I could get Reese's Pieces and the guy shook his head and said nope "not the same", he wanted Peanut Butter M&M's or nothing. Nobody I can find sells these in bulk quantity. Mars Website does not even list them as being available in "Extra-Large" Bags, like the Regular and Peanut M&M's are. I did find a sale on them recently at Walgreens and the price was comparable to the bulk price of Peanut M&M's so I purchased all of them they would let me buy at three different stores. That sale is over now. They are now being eaten at our first location, (placed last weekend). If anybody knows of a better source, and I'll need one soon too, please let us both know. Otherwise I'm stuck waiting for another sale! Dave
antoniocinisi
how many pieces do you give per vend lurker??
lurker
I believe I have the wheel set to vend 14 - 16 pieces if memory serves. Am I too generous, or too stingy? LOL Dave Forgot to say I shoot for a 1/2 ounce vend. I can measure it on a mail scale I just happen to have.
antoniocinisi
14-16 pieces is a half ounce??? that is way too generous!! I am going to give 7-8 out .i buy them expensivly (for now till I go to the city) at 3.43$ per 12.7oz bag.with that amount I get 21 vends.that is 525$.minus 343=157 minus 30% comission=1.27 .thats like makeing 5$ from a bag of pmm from sams.not good. at half an ounce thats 26 vends from the same bag.that doubles the profit. monday I am going to call tj kings or talk to my grocery store and see what I can do. I dont like much candy but this stuff is good.they loved reeses pieces at the location imo this product will sell even better.
lurker
OK, I checked this out. My digital mail scale measures in tenths of an ounce. On my mail scale 8 pieces weighs 2/10ths of an ounce (1/5 oz.) 16 pieces puts the scale just on 5/10ths. or 1/2 oz. (14 pieces weighs 4/10ths - 2/5 oz. almost but not quite 1/2 oz.) I checked a couple other sources online and they recommend 12 to 14 pieces. So I was going off of that. I intend to give my customers superior service above and beyond what everyone else is doing is this very competitive market. 12.7 oz. bag yeilds 25 vends / 25 x 25 cents = $6.25 gross / $6.25 - ($2.99 cost + .63 charity) = $2.63 net (on a $3 purchase). I could up this by closing my candy wheel slightly but I ain't gonna. I'm comfortable with this for now as it's only one bin out of three. The other two will more than make up for any perceived "loss". Antonio, I have to ask this, and I may have read it wrong, but if the location loved the Reeses Pieces why are they asking you to get rid of them? Were they buying too many and getting fat? LOL If you hear anything good from TJ King's let us know will ya? I'm sure we could all profit from a good cheap source for these suckers, aaaaa... I mean Peanut Butter M&M's. AmuseStar Vending Co
Antoniocinsi, 7 or 8 is to low. Try 10 or 11. Skating rinks are a pain to please! Kyle
antoniocinisi
I "vended" a whole bag at home and the only way it would be profitable is to sell 7-8 pieces.I have to give 30 percent comission on the location too remember, and I pay about 40 cents more per bag..I dont get them on sale here(yet) even if it is half an ounce 14-16 is too much imo.for a quarter you should get a good mouthfull.14-16 is about 2 mouthfuls.10 pieces imo is still generous. I will let you know if and where I can get this candy from, but its going to be tuesday before I can call around.do you have tj kings number(hint hint) the skateing rink doesnt want reeses any more because they say they make the biggest mess when run over by the skates. lurker
Man that 30% commission hurts. Obviously different locations, and different situations like, cost of product etc.., are going to call for different stratigies. I'd probably do the same thing in your shoes. When I have to pay more for the same candy, and my profit drops below my comfort level, I'll lower my wheel setting to compensate. OK, I get the hint, I'll call them myself. Oh, hadn't thought about the mess they'd make. Yuck. I can see how that would be a problem for them. Good luck in your quest for a suitable alternative. antoniocinisi
Man that 30% commission hurts. I started at 20% and she said no.the only way i could talk her into a machine in her rink was at 30%.I have slowly been turning my candy wheels down as each canister runs out of stuff.I have an 8 vend u turn in there.for those of you that have these u turn machines and are giveing any commision, turn the setting they recomend down 1 for each product.for example they recomend a 9 for pmm, I have to set it at 8,in some locations 7.at 8 it`ll pretty consistately give out 9,sometimes 8 pieces .thats in line what some members reccomend should be given per vend. sunday I switched out one of two of the canisters of reeses for the pb mm`s.they were such great sellersI needed 2 there. my wife was also able to find 18.40 oz bags for 4.18 a bag or 22.5 an oz.,still expensive but a bit better.then she went to a kmart and got them for 1.69 for 12.7 oz bags or 13.3 an oz..much better! I wasnt able to cal tj king today but will tomorrow since you didn`t:P

antoniocinisi
am I the only one here that uses peanut butter mm?? anyone use the dark mm and dark pmm?
lew
I have placed dark pmm's in several of my machines this month as a test to see if they will be a top seller. When I placed them into the machines the customers were very exited and before I left the people were already placing quarters into the machine. Haven't placed the dark m&m's into any machines. Will let you know how they sell at the end of this month.
