pocketchange
Hi I was just wondering does this industry fall under the health department, what are the regulations that we have to follow? I want to be as clean as possible because I'm a germ freak and don't want to sell people germy candy. But yeah, any facts?
West Coast Vend LLC
I too, only want the cleanest of conditions. I have seen some real ugly vending machines. They are the ones that give vending a bad name. I don't think there are any health department requirements. Just keep everything as clean as possible. It is your business and Remember, if someone gets sick, they are going to come looking for you. Gary
lurker
Hi pocketchange! In Oklahoma there are no reg's. in regard to handling bulk candy, nuts, or gum, etc... I checked with the state and they were rather cavalier with their answers of... "anybody can start their own bulk vending machine business, and no, there are no special regulations, or health department rules". I was kinda surprised. I figured at least they'd require a sixty minute class on handling "food stuffs" that the public will be buying and eating. But nope! I handle my machines like I would want, anything I'm going to eat out of, to be handled. With an eye toward cleanliness at all times. I handle any candy etc... with latex gloves on, when filling or servicing the machines. Them's the only facts I can relate. Dave
antoniocinisi
I am CERTIFIED FOOD HANDLER BECAUSE OF MY JOB.I can tell you that you should never touch any kind of ready to eat foods with your bare hands.also when serviceing the machines do the refilling of candy first and handle the money later. West Coast Vend LLC
I am also a Certified Food Handler and Antonio is correct. Just remember, if you wouldn't eat your own candy than you shouldn't let anyone else eat it. Gary
