  1. I tried the scrolling message for fun and like you said "Ice Cold Drinks". Well maybe fun is not the right word for it...
  2. Thanks. I read that in the SIID manual about the DEX in progress message. That sounds interesting the SSM. Maybe if that is on it will show other stuff too. I will give that a try.
  3. I noticed a typo - I have a Pepsi DN276E. Thanks!
  4. Hi all, I have a Pepsi DN27E - they call it a Pepsi Simulated HVV because of the front graphics. The manual says that when the machine is doing a DEX the display should read “DEX IN PROGRESS”. My display just shows a period "." also only shows a "." when in normal operating mode. Machine vends fine. If I press a button it shows the price. The DEX is working fine - the proper data comes out. There is just no display of anything happening even the though the manual is pretty clear on that. The SW on the controller is 381.41 - any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the feedback. Yes - it is useful as a diagnostics tool when the telemetry won't DEX. Can trace or test bad wiring and old eeproms.
  6. That is usually the culprit. We first check if the machine will DEX. If it can DEX, the eeprom version is usually stored in the DEX data. We have a look-up that checks the eeprom version for each manufacturer and check if it is up-to-date to support the features we need. If not, we update the eeprom to the latest.
  7. That's cool. I thought that was what you meant. Thanks. I wrote an iOS app that pulls DEX from a machine and it parses it out and displays it real nice and readable along with POG and alerts translated into human readable form. I can also load raw DEX files from other sources into it and show the parsed result and POG and alerts as well. I work for a really large bottling company and found the app really useful. Do you think it would be worth my time putting it into the App store? Maybe a free version with a few features and an advanced version that would have to be paid for? Do you think there would interest?
  8. lacanteen, What is the DEX "decoder ring"?
  9. Southeast Treats (and anyone else on this thread), Thanks for the reply. This makes me wonder - would it be of value to have an App on the Apple App store for your iPhone or iPad that could perform a DEX and parse and display that information? I have written an App that does that using a few different manufacturers bluetooth adapters as well as a plug-in lighting port cable. I was thinking maybe a basic free version that just tests if DEX works and maybe a pay version that does more analysis of the data. Trying to understand if it is worth my effort to get this thing into the App store. I wrote it and currently use it as part of my consulting business for a few large bottlers to help with their vending businesses. It also has features that help speed-up the set-up of vending machines by setting prices, space-to-sales, etc. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
  10. Hi all, Just reading this post so a bit late to the show. How do you confirm that DEX works on a machine before committing to adding card readers, etc.?
  11. Many of the MEI/MARS acceptors can upgrade the firmware to accept $5. You can plug in a usb stick and upgrade the firmware.
