Bryan
Hey there. I recently purchased 9 seaga 3 head machines and am getting them location ready. I plan on using PMM, Skittles, and gumballs in the middle slot. My big question is whether or not I should use labels. The display case is fairly small, only 3.5 inches wide, and the PMM are the only candy that would really need the label anyhow (skittles and gumballs speak for themselves). Would any of you veteran bulk venders have any suggestions for me? I feel as if the machine would almost look better without these labels, but at the same time, I feel like they wouldn't know for sure that it is PMM that they are purchasing. Any advice would be great! Thanks, -Bryan Attatched are the labels I would most likely be printing
JLM Vending
well it's a preference thing. For my old u turns, they look kinda bad and so i use 3 labels sometimes to cover up the dents.
timberframe50
Bryan, would you purchase something because it appeared to be something. I think you might be disappointed when you get RP's when you wanted MM's.
Bryan
Thanks for the advice everyone! I will be printing out these labels in color then heading over to my local Staples tomorrow to have them laminated, sticky side up (to place them on the inside of the machine). It will only cost me $2 per 4-5 labels or so, so I figure that's a pretty decent deal. I'm also going to have 100 business cards printed with my contact info which I will then laminate and stick to the side of each machine. Again, thanks for all of the help. I can't imagine going through this process alone -Bryan
antoniocinisi
I believe you could be sued if something happens such as choking with an unlabeled machine.
treadmill
Labels look much more professional. Ditto.
shepherdsflock
Somewhere on this board there is a library of printable labels for a variety of products that were posted by another member. I went to Sam's club and bought some blank name tag stickers that fit my Vendstar's hoppers quite well (I think the vendstar hoppers are pretty close in width to your Seaga). I simply print them on my home printer and stick them on the machine. If I change product, I simply slap another one on top of the old one. This works well up to about the third layer, then I scrape them off and use Goo-Gone to get the residue off and put a new label on. By the way, good luck with the Skittles. In close to six months I don't think I've sold more than $5 worth between two locations. I'm replacing my Skittles this month. I haven't decided yet what I'm replacing them with. Hopefully someting profitable!
shepherdsflock
One more thing about labels, if you offer anything that could cause a food allergy (peanuts, peanut butter, etc.) and don't label it, you could be liable for death or serious injury if somebody mistakes your candy for another candy that doesn't contain the allergy causing ingredients. Also, think about how much money the candy producers spend on developing their brand imaging. They do this for a reason, and there's no reason you shouldn't capitalize on their efforts. I'll put it this way, at the very worst putting labels on won't generate sales. More likely, the catchy graphics of the labels will draw a few customers and offset the initial cost of making and printing the label.

I know PMM are the best choice but what are most people's second best candy seller? I have looked around and used the search but haven't really found anything. I'm planning on picking up some bulk gumballs today and can hopefully grab another candy as well that does better than skittles. Also, I don't suppose you could direct me to the library of printable labels, that would come in very handy! Thanks again everyone! Bryan
dperry
In some situations, I do not use labels. I don't use them for most self vend items, like gumballs, fun time mix, bouncy balls, etc. But I found one good reason why I should use labels. When the head goes empty, there is nothing to remind me what product I had in that head. It's happened to me a number of times. Not often, but enough. Bryan Bryan, Yes, honestly Skittles have been an almost total failure. I did check my machine a few days ago and opened up the coin tray access panel and found that my skittles sales had increased, but are still lagging far behind Peanut M&Ms and Reece's Pieces. I put out a survey in the break room and asked what the employees would like to see the skittles replaced with and they requested plain M&Ms, so I'm going to try that. I'll take a look later when I have more time and see if I can find the link to the label library that I use when I need labels.

Thanks again everyone! Bryan Bryan, Here is the link to where I found my labels: http://vendiscuss.net/index.php?/topic/683-bulk-candy-labels/ You'll have to scroll through the posts, but you should be able to find labels for most candies. Hope they help! The price is right!
Esko
I would be concerned with someone having peanut allergies being unable to identify the PMM's. I know, I know common sense right.... but as we all know...

I wonder how many people who have a peanut allergy do not know what peanut m&ms look like by sight. Or that peanut m&ms contain peanuts.

vendsmarts
I bought a route last November that had no labels or .25 stickers on any the machines. I labeled and priced all the machines and sales are going up. You can get labels from bacho on here real cheap.
