ok its easy

if its a 2xxx series most are 2200 2300 2400 2500 2600 series

first look for the words flashport written on the side label

or on the back below the metal release bar or program button (red light) right below the stacker

if its says flashport you need a updater tool..

if it does not say flashport anywhere you cant update without changing the main motherboard.

they sell them here

http://na.suzohapp.c..._upgrades_5.htm

or if you dont want to spend $105.00

you can borrow mine just pay shipping.

the instructions are easy to follow

set all dip switches off execpt 8 must be on.

this is for the 110v ones the 24 v vending one is a diffrent programmer.

you plug it in.. it flashes for 2 minutes and off you go

done

let me know

If the validator does not even accept $5 bills can it be updated with that and it will accept them? (sorry if this is a noob question, I am new) The validators I have in my machines right now are mars 2xxx something.

hmm that sounds like a 24 volt vending validator they are diffrent than the 110v ones

some mars i have seen in snack /soda cant be updated they even say on them not updateable

i would need the model number and first 4 of the serial number off the validator the first 4 digits are the month and year it was made

i know vn2300 can not do fives.

some mei-mars were made for vending where they did not do fives via price/option

like the vn2300 didnt do fives but the vn2500 did but was more money etc..

if its a mars 2xxx you should be able to flip one of the 1-8 dip switches to accept ones, twos and fives.. but it might only take old fives till updated

it may even do fives by using the coupon program mode if your validator supports this

its a coupon you print on your printer

fill out the scan tron areas and insert into the validator while in program mode. takes seconds.

let me know the numbers and i can tell you for sure

I looked and it is a mars vn2312, so I guess I can not do 5's with that validator. What is a good validator for me to get in the future if one of mine has a problem? would http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mars-VN-2512-24-Volt-MDB-Bill-Acceptor-Validator-Flashport-2008-5-Ready-/320856511528?pt=BI_Vending&hash=item4ab489d428#ht_500wt_1413 that type be a decent one? or could you suggest a better one?

That one is just fine. It will replace the 2312 with no problems, and will take the new currency. Thanks for posting the link to one of my ebay ads by the way. ;D

haha, I searched. Bill Validator on ebay and it was one of the first ones I saw.
