bil10219
Someone approached me about fixing a pong game that no longer accepts coins. Does anyone have any experience with pong (other than playing it)? Could this be any easy fix ie swap out coin acceptor? Or are there ancient control boards inside that will make this a nightmare? Any idea where I could send them to get it fixed if it is a problem? Thanks, Bill
PerformaVending
So, does the game itself work, and it just isn't taking coins, or are there multiple problems?

Thanks, Bill it looks like they use a standard arcade mech or a roll down mech. my guess would be problems with the mech or the coin line, test the switch in the mech for proper operation test the coin line by shorting the leads togther (or installing a temporary switch) and see if it credits the machine. may not help but its a good place to start
bil10219
Thanks Dogcow. If I wanted to just swap out the mech with a reconditioned one would that work? Also, would I be able to find one? Thanks, Bill
dogcow
a coin mech is , at its core, just a switch. if you had a picture i could give you a better idea of what you need. most mechs are modular and can be swapped out. i am guessing you need a mechanical mech of some kind. either something like this: http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10_57&products_id=948 or this: http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10_25&products_id=

dogcow
yeah get one of these : http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10_25&products_id=60 that will replace the coin mech , the mech itself is the thing underneath the coin slot, if you drop in a quarter while its open you will see it roll down into the mech then hit a switch at the bottom to credit the machine. the mechs go bad frequently
