Must be a biological reason for it because you really do think better on your feet. Actually we were taught that it is because while sitting your diaphragm pushes up and does not allow you breathe as deeply. By standing you can take a full breath and the extra lung capacity deepens the voice and pitch slightly which we interpret mentally as more authoritarian.
