mei 7512 coin mech showing check vendor.. help please!

Recommended Posts

my coin mech is displaying check vendor-disabled by machine. it's in a rvv 500 with a mei bill acceptor. the coin mech and Bill acceptor are both functioning properly. any idea how to fix this issue so it will display a smiley face, say 'ok' and display the total amount of coin in the chutes? I have another rvv with identical setup and it displays properly. thanks

The message of "Disabled by VMC" is most commonly caused by the machine disabling the coinage in the machine.  This can be due simply to the door being open which puts the machine in the service mode, or the mode button was pressed on the logic board, or the vend circuit is disabled in the machine due to a jam or other failure, causing there to be no need for coinage at the time.  If you can't determine any of those causes then read on.

If the coin mech does this whether your door switch is in (vend mode) or out (service mode) then you should view your coin mech errors for a clue to the problem.  Perform these steps:

  • Press the lower right Yellow button tagged MENU.
  • Press the mid right button now tagged SETUP.
  • Press the left buttons, top to bottom, tagged A, B, C to enter the setup menu.
  • Press the up arrow to move to ERRORS and press SELECT and the screen will display how many errors are stored.  The last 10 chronological errors are stored, newest to oldest.
  • Press the yellow button tagged VIEW and then the arrow buttons to scroll through the errors to see if they explain the failure.  The errors will display along with how long ago the error occurred.

Also try bypassing the validator by plugging the coin mech directly into the MDB harness from the machine (do this with logic power off in the machine).  If the coin mech now works properly your problem is really in the validator.  With MDB, any device can cause a problem to manifest itself in another device in the MDB circuit.  If you still can't get the mech to work, then try a different MDB coin mech in the machine to determine if the problem is in the coin mech or the machine.  If another known, good coin mech also won't work, then you have a machine problem, likely in your logic board.
