Now that spring is just around the corner and everything is starting to grow again, we need to grow as well. It is time for the 1st annual "Spring Fever" VenDiscuss membership support drive. As this site grows with members, the money it takes to run the joint is increasing, So those can donate a little or a lot the time has come to pony up. Now you may say what do I get from donating? Participation is not mandatory as some of the members have more money to operate with then others but evey little bit counts. So after you make the donation go there to list your name. Steve will also get it with the payment but this will also help us keep track of it. I will be making a donation as well so if you all don't want me to win all the prizes then get some competion going. I can really use a couple of those boxes of tattoos from VenDynamics. At least two winners each week because right now I have secured 7 prizes. I may get a couple more prizes but not sure. So maybe we will have a drawing from all the non winners who donated for the oddball prize. I have not secured any prizes for those that don't have any rack or sticker set ups yet. Perhaps Steve can come up with an alterantive prize from his prize sack if a person wins and can't use the prize. You can always donate it to me. I guess I should have put a little more info in the post but I wanted to get it out there and see what I forgot. So the schedule for drawings will be as follows and done by Steve's own secret method. The prizes for Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 will be drawn on April 1 or Steves earliest convenience. The close of the contest will be midnight Pacific time zone on 3/31/09. Week one random drawing will close on 3/17/09 at midnight Pacific time zone. The drawing will be on 3/18/09 or Steves earliest convenience. Week two random drawing will close on 3/24/09 at midnight Pacific time zone. The drawing will be on 3/25/09 or Steves earliest convenience. The last weely random drawing will close on 3/31/09 at midnight Pacific time zone. The drawing will be on 4/1/09 or Steves earliest convenience. Thank You Beer! To everyone else who has, or is going to donate during this fundraiser, I very sincerely thank you as well. I usually like to thank each member individually for their contributions but since we are anticipating (hopefully) a flurry of contributions, I would like to extend this blanket note of thanks to everyone. Now let me get into a little about where these dollars will be put to use. First and foremost, I want to ensure that VENDiscuss will be here day or night whenever someone wants to log in. I am going to make sure that our hosting bill is prepaid as far as I can. As the forum has grown, so has our hosting bill. It has gotten to the point (with the added bandwidth usage) that I can no longer afford to prepay for an entire year at a time like I did in the beginning. I have since changed the hosting plan to a "Pay by the Month" plan to make it easier on my wallet. With the proceeds from this fundraiser, I hope to get back on the annual plan that will ensure a 12 month buffer, just in case! Second, I would like a slush fund that will allow us to continue to hold more contests and give away more prizes. In a perfect world, we would have sponsors who would be willing to donate all of our contest prizes. This has not always been the case so it would be nice to have the financial means to offer more fantastic prizes into the foreseeable future. I am also thinking it would be nice to invest in some VENDiscuss "swag" such as bumper stickers (like we had done in the past) T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, and Caps for giveaways. Third, Most of you know that I have been working on a re-vamped locator review area. It has not come to fruition as of yet. However, I have had my eye on some fantastic, professionally written and installed, product review software for quite some time. It is a bit pricey but very nice. I would love to be able to have it installed on our site. It would enable us to transform the locator and equipment review sections into "real" review sections, complete with star ratings and everything else you see on major retail sites where customers write their own reviews and rate different products. Fourth, I would like to promote our community a bit further. It has been suggested that we advertise our locator reviews in the locator section of the "Vending Yellow Pages" as a public service to those looking for reputable locators. This is something else that I have been considering but was on the back burner due to the cost. I'm not sure if we will be able to swing all of these things but its nice to have a list. If anyone would like to see something else added, I'm all ears. Each one of you have just as much say in what this board will become over the long term. I will be sure to send you or post any additional ideas I have, I do have a good friend of mine that I work with (sits right next to me) that is an IT specialist and may be able to assist you with something. Website design and bells and whistles are his biggest thing of all so if you like I can ask him to shoot you an email or conference call or something to touch base and see where it goes, you never know. Drink is extra. All on the screened in porch with island music overlooking the koi pond to complete it. I will even wear my special BBQ apron. It will include a free display card for each product and all you do is pay actual shipping to your location. That is a $60 prize value for maybe $10 shipping that you would have to pay for anyways. If you want to order additional product when you claim your prize you can order it at the same time to bundle it in with the shipping cost. I don't know how many donated but we have 7 that have checked in on the prize level threads. So it looks like good odds for those that donated during week one.
