Route Tracking spreadsheet ?

I am just starting out doing this on a part-time basis. I don't want to spend a bunch of money on tracking software, nor do I have a ton of locations. I was wondering if there was a simple excel spreadhseet somewhere out there where I could track the few locations that I do have?

Yes I am aware of vend trak, but was trying not to spend money on a software program just yet.

What are you looking for? To track when locations serviced, or product sold, or both?

Both. When it was serviced, how much product was sold, dollar amounts, and kind of variances from month to month, etc.

How would you be inputting the info, manually or with DEX?

I have looked into Cantaloupe Systems http://www.cantaloupesys.com/ for a more automated system of getting the info from the machines. It obviously costs but it does make life a bit easier. Like all new technology it's expensive and designed for large companies. But it may work really well for you. I don't use them but have seriously considered it.

I would most likely be entering everything manually to start out. Just looking for something to hold me over until I expand. Don't need anything too compex to start out.

I have a simple spreadsheet setup to track my one location.  It tracks the following:

1.  total sales each collection (split between candy sales, pop sales, and change overall)

2.  Expenses

3.  Commission payments

4.  Profit margin

5.  Loan payments

I do not track individual item sales because i dont think it would benefit me for all the time needed to track every item.  I also have a few simple  graphs showing loan balance and income.  It is very simple and nothing fancy, but it works great for me.  I can post it if you want, but its really not hard to do yourself.
