spdydre
does anyone in here currently have one of these? I was looking into one but I am concerned with any legal issues that there may be in Texas. If so how do you go about placing it somewhere and what are the requirements if any such as getting registered etc?
deee_z
I have some in TX, you will need to get registered with the comptroller and pay a $200 general business license and pay $60 per machine for the tag. This is a yearly expense. As far as the locations go, those are find on your own and networking. IM me where you are, we can talk more about this. nam
spdydre, Most areas in Texas that used to have them no longer do. Many thought they could place candy in the upper area of the machine so they would say the candy peppermint was a quarter and playing the machine was free. This hasn't held up in most areas and getting hard to find them in most locations. There are still a few in scattered areas but more that don't than do. You should go out into the area you are wanting to place the machines and start asking alot of independent convience store owners if they would like one in their store. You will likely find a bunch of owners telling you they already had one and were told to remove it! nam
deee_z
Nam, been operating in Texas for a while now, never once been told to pick up the machines, I keep up with the hip and skip here.
nam
deee_z, Great but don't give up hope. They can change and come after you any time. All it takes in the wrong person or group to complain about them being gambling devices and force the authorities into doing something. Hope you luck holds up. nam

PLAYTOWINBOB
i have a few of these, they make ok money, but you must bolt down to a wall or floor so no one shakes them.we put a nice watch or $20 bill near the front of them to get people playing them more.some people worry about the laws with these types of machines .i was told they fall into the gray area and are ok. one thing for sure you must keep a eye on these machines or have someone you can really trust.to easy to shake or bump and get money out
jayhawk22
They were just declared illegal in KS. A bunch were recently confiscated & destroyed to make a point. I think they are illegal in OK. A friend of mine operated them for a year & they made insane money.
ronsidney
i operate about 40 of these in TN,KY and MO..they are basicly illegal with loopholes in law to fight with..meaning lazy lawmakers make new law on page 100 but forgot to erase old contradictive law on page 20..therefore a "gray" area game for sure.. i dont know about texas but here in tn and ky it is up to local sheriff as there is no "gaming authority" really as there are no casinos..casinos are the ones that wil push local law enforsement to pick up these machines as well as any kind of competing machine for their casino.. its normally the store owner who really takes risk as most states to enforce their law(kansas for one) told businesses they would lose their liquor/beer license if they didnt remove machines..and of course the vendor would get his machine bulldozed at the landfill if he didnt remove it fast before they could come and pick it up.... they make the best money you can make in vending ive found,,ive got a few that do over 2K a month for a 500 buck machine off of ebay..Im building my own machines now and i plan on putting a bunch out over next year or as long as i can before they clamp down around here like kansas..gotta make the dough while i can!! oh yeah, thanks for letting me in you guys group, never knew about this one just the yahoo ones.. ron
jamesjmcgough
If anyone has any of these that are not out on location, please contact me as I can find a home for them in Costa Rica. I bring down shipping containers several times a year and they are in no threat of being outlawed here. Why not cash in and have a free vacation to boot? Our Zapote Festival starts Christmas Day and I will try and post a link to the "HUGE" lines waiting to use these machines. I don't own any yet but have been truly amazed at the equivalent of thousands of dollars a day these machines are doing. I have the local infrastructure, the network and the Tico employees who can place these machines for you and I take a cut.

jamesjmcgough
Sorry, Just one is not worth my while since I would be shipping yo Florida and consolidating in a container forwarding to Costa Rica or Panama City, Panama. I am looking for at least twenty units simply for shipping scale. Sometime in the future, I may be making an outright buying trip to the US but I can't envision that happening until at least November of 2010.
