How much time should you give a location to know whether or not it is just not in your better interest to stay there?

Stay as long as you like. When you decide the profit isn't high enough then pull the plug.

If it's not a place with a major seasonal shift in sales, it only takes no more than a month to know.  If you just don't feel it's worth doing, then it probably isn't.  Of course, a big company may think a 200/week account isn't worth it, whereas I love those.

Has anyone done a contract with a business about a base amount to keep the vending machine on location?

such as say $400/mo and if thats not reached the business pays the difference.

No, it's mainly a handshake business.  If you don't feel that you are making a reasonable profit then you remove your machine(s). You can always counter with an offer that the business subsidize the vending pricing but that won't always save a poor location. I used to do "subsidized vending" until one account went belly up and locked up my machines.  Eff em. No more subsidized vending.

Thank you all for the responses. Another thing, how fast should products be selling out to know whether I should swap it out or not?

and how do yall feel about FSI 3172s are the mdb compatible?
