Vending Coke machine

I have a 501e  older one I was trying to set prices but every time I hit the reset button the blue one it shows up era on the front display

any suggestions would be much appreciative

I'm a little confused here due to your terminology.  There is no "reset" button I know of.  If the board is an SII-D, it has one service mode button and there is also a door switch on the cabinet.  If it is an SII board, it will have a setup/audit button and a diagnostics button in addition to the door switch on the cabinet.  Do you have an SII-D board with one mode button?

Sometimes, there may be a column jam or something and you have to pull the door switch to enter service mode.  You press selection buttons 1+2 simultaneously (and hold) to scroll through options.

He's pressing the mode button and if there are any errors they will display first.  Er a is not a proper reading of an error.  It's probably ER and then a number that isn't displayed properly because some segments of the display are bad.
