My upgraded crane 148 displays "all selections sold out" and "lane error"

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Thank you for taking your time to help me with this issue, I have a crane national 148 (this model had sockets, not harnesses for the trays(see image)) that was upgraded to a new motherboard that takes mdb (I don't know what brand), and I'm experiencing a pretty big issue as of now. I recently cleaned the inside cabinet of the machine and took out all of the rows (I didn't get anything on any of the wires or connectors) and placed them back in as normal. When I went to turn on the machine, It displays that the whole machine is sold out (as you can see from the photo) and when entering the operator settings, it displays "lane error". I've had this issue before and was able to fix it, but it wasn't for the whole machine. I have no idea why this is happening and I just got a location to put this machine, so I'm trying to fix it fast. If anyone has any tips that would be greatly appreciated!

Your photos are generally too small.  The second and third of the six pics are the best ones.  Are you outside the states?  That doesn't look familiar but the logic board pics are too small to read anything on the board.  In US jargon, you have shelves in the machine and each shelf has rows of selections in it.  To call those lanes sounds like a British thing.

Otherwise, it sounds like it lost it's pricing while it was turned off or the machine also has drop sensors on the delivery bin and they aren't working correctly.  To put an aftermarket board into that machine was a waste of money without putting a hardwired shelf harness kit in it too.

I got the machine like this. It worked fine for a while until I took the trays completely out, I'm based in Florida and that's where I got this machine, as for the pictures I apologize for the small size and I will submit better and bigger pictures. It doesn't have a drop sensor on the drop area. I was calling them lanes because the error was displaying the word "Lane" and I assumed that it was speaking of the trays and rows.  When I go into the settings it displays that there is no connected trays or rows, and when cycling through the price changing settings, it displays "disconnected!" next to every selection's alphanumeric key, that is why I assumed that the trays connection is the issue. The pricing is still set for each selection aswell.

If it does this with the door open or closed then you probably have a wire that came loose from the door switch.  Otherwise, I don't recognize that logic board.  Someone else might though.

The door switch never worked for me, I have it unplugged as the wires can be seen in the photos. I've tried plugging them in yesterday and it did nothing. The tray issue it essentially constant from what I've seen playing around with it. Service mode just displays "Errors with: Lane"

Trace the switch wires and see if they go to the new board.  If they do or if there is a pinout marked as door switch then hook it up.  If the switch is bad then replace it.

"That means the tray or motors are not being seen by the board on that tray.  If the tray is connected by a harness, the harness may be unplugged, bad motors, or disconnected wires.  If the trays use contacts in the back, then the contacts are dirty or the side tabs are worn.  Sometimes you can bend the rear cabinet contacts slightly to make better contact.  You may also have to push the side tabs up if they don't seat properly.  I think you can also get this error if you removed motors but the board hasn't been reconfigured to recognize the new motor count."

I found this from AngryChris in regards to a crane 157, mabey I need to clean the contacts.

If it's every selection then I don't have much of an idea beyond what AZvendor said.  I would jump to the conclusion that the board lost its pricing and test that out or just reprice everything and see if it resolves it.  Otherwise, I would next assume that the door switch isn't allowing the board to go through its normal routine of looking for motors before it operates.  You need to try to short those pins or replace the switch like AZvendor is saying.  It's very possible the switch (or lack there of " is the issue.  That's really all I have.  I don't recognize the board either.  Probably Greenwick.

I think I figured out what's going wrong. So as I mentioned I took out all of the trays the other day to clean the machine, I turned it on while it was empty and I'm guessing it then detected that the trays were all missing. Since I do not have a door switch, it is not able to run through the process  of looking to see if the trays are in place. The big issue is I do not know where the door switch is on this motherboard. I found what I belive to be the door switch, but I do not know if it is. Whenever  I bridge the wires or take them apart it doesn't do anything, so I'm kind of stuck here. If anyone has ANY insight at all, please tell me

PICTURES (High quality so it may take a second to load them)-

This is a photo of what I believe to be the door switch wires- https://ibb.co/7X5Cx7w

This is a photo of where The "door switch" wires lead, this is why I do not think it is a door switch even though it looks like one- https://ibb.co/dcRJs4G

These photos are all close ups of the motherboard without the bulk and wires covering it-

At this point, I played  with it for about 6 hours and I got nothing. I'm either going to buy a inOne board for this or call a repair tech out here. Which option should I do? The repair tech might just say to get a new motherboard and then I'm back to where I am now, but I have to pay for him to come out.

I recommend getting an InOne board
