  1. I use the cardboard pink ribbon boxes with yorks, and a few other types of candy. Margaret is pleasant to work with, and the boxes have held up very well for me over the last few years. Like mentioned above, they also are easy to clean, since there is a protective coating on them. I also have to agree that the acrylic boxes are pretty expensive to start out. They do look great, and can be a wonderful option if you have a location that may not have the room for a cardboard box. the acrylic has smaller dimensions, but holds about the same amount of candy. The outside dimensions of the cardboard box measures about 11.5x8 and 12 inches tall (to the very top of the box), and the acrylic is 10x6 and 10 inches high. I will say one thing I really like about the acrylic vs the cardboard boxes is the coin box. i have a few locations that are quite a ways from home, and have very high payment. With the cardboard boxes, sometimes there it can be a challenge for people to get more money in the coin box, and that isnt ever a issue with the acrylic boxes. I personally wish the coin box on the acrylic was darker, but I just use a little bit of static cling frosted window treatment to help keep the money a bit more hidden. Definitely do plenty of research, and best of luck!
  2. I think rising star is trying to drum up biz by calling old customers . Im not sure id use them again , but i must say a phone call from rising star is more than ive got from either LRU or first choice .

    Why we do this

thats awesome ! and 100 yards away . so cool congrats !
  4. im waiting on LRU for a invoice from 6/6/12 , and still no word on a decline from 7/18/12 . we are also waiting for replacements requested on 6/10/12 ( 2 of them ,but i located one yesterday ) , and no response to a email asking if they are up to the task of locating 20++ more doubles in 10 zip codes . to my own discredit , i havent emailed them in a few weeks . we have worked with LRU quite a bit ,and always been happy with their service , and a majority of the locations we get from them are great performers . its also worth mentioning , LRU really seems to build a ROUTE , not scattered locations here and there . and of course , the amazing price per location they charge . hopefully we just got lost in a spam folder , because we would love to continue working with them . first choice --we have got some real good spots from first choice . some declines ( small auto type shops ) which was no problem , and a few locations given were out of zip codes requested ( declined ) again ,no issues . unfortunately , i was asked for more zip codes to finish my order of 9 doubles ( currently we are working in 10 zip codes , 70-75 square miles ) . first choice has sent some great spots that have suprised me : large chain store break room , a front spot at a large chain auto parts , and a front spot in a large chain resteraunt .
  5. ag again ,i FULLY agree . but , since i ( we ) work so hard for our money , i just have a hard time thinking i could lose it like that . i dont have enough to give away : . on the same hand , if i could figure a way to network with some people , id really entertain the idea of starting a route in florida...as long as dogcow doesnt slash all my tires ( <<< joking )
  6. i see what youre getting at , i guess im just worried about having money invested in machines that may get confiscated , or kicked out in a hurry . i-we can disagree until we are blue in the face ,but , if my machine is confiscated , im out the money . thats kinda my thought . now ,if i could get a location to redeem tickets for gift cards or something of the nature.... im just not sure how to go about it
  7. no ,there are cranes EVERYWHERE here . thats a whole different topic i suppose . i dont know anything about cranes either .
  8. well ,it was a short lived dream . i was told anything that is "money out" is regulated by the oreogn lottery :-( . thanks for all the info everyone ,but it looks like if i want to do coin pushers ive gotta move .
  9. dogcow , i cant thank you enough for the response . that is some WONDERFUL information . thankyou . I cant stress enough how greatful i am to you ,and every experienced vendor , who shares information like this . expereince is priceless . im definately in the "expolring" stage of things . id like to get one soon ,get it home and feild strip it for fun ( yeah im strange like that ) so i know it inside and out . i definately like the " kid un-friendly " thought . i was thinking sports bars and pub type locations . again ,thanks ALOT
  10. so far we have only done bulk candy , but we have looked at other entertainment ideas ( breathalizer , cranes , now coin pusher ) as well . im not even sure where to start here ,so any advice would be greatly appreciated . ive done some searching , but so far only find sites that want to sell me something ( what a suprise ! ) ive seen the machines that have a candy top ( i assume this gets me past the "gambling" part ? ) . one of the biggest questions i have is , how do you initially fill it , and how do you know how much coin to take out on a service ? thanks in advance for advice and suggestions . if anyone has a link to more info , or a suggested pusher model id love to hear it .
