TKK
Looking for a motorized coin counter. Or a quarter counter... All I see is some that fill up a small tube or for coin wrappers. Is a scale better?

Big Mike
Looking for a motorized coin counter. Or a quarter counter... All I see is some that fill up a small tube or for coin wrappers. Is a scale better? Scale is better imo. We have 100.00 worth of quarters in a bowl. We just give it a check now and then for accuracy. http://acucount.com/index.html Mike

TKK
I bought a kitchen scale at walmart for 20 bucks. I put a quarter and it says 5 grams but if I put 2 its like 11 grams. I looked and found a quarter weights about 5.65 grams. Is there an acurate way for me to use this? Say every 100 quarters wil be 556 grams? I want it acurate and would a silver quarter throw me off? Sometimes I get very amazed at the things I see here. Many times I've seen you post a question then answer them in the same post. It makes me wonder. It seems obvious to me. Count out several piles of 100 quarters each. Then weigh each pile and then take the average. Then divide that by 100, and you will will have the weight of the average quarter. If your experiences are like mine, you will find that your machines are filled with more than just quarters. So you either sort the coins or you just weigh them with the quarters. I do the latter. You will find that the weight never divides down to one quarter exactly, so I will always round down.
onecent@atime
The bank does it for free, we have labeled bags for each location, time consuming i know, but we know what each location does, so we can decide keep or move on. 400.00 is not practical imo. Scale is better imo. We have 100.00 worth of quarters in a bowl. vendsmarts
The guy I bought my new route from told me about a credit union that lets people bring loose coins in and use their machine for free if you open an account. Its called Firefighters community credit union, but anyone can have an account. I checked out their website tonight. I will see about opening an account with them. Im in cleveland, but they may have locations in other states. If not maybe you all can find places like this one. Heres the link to their site. https://www.ffcommunity.com/
onecent@atime
I have a small business account, checking savings and payroll with my bank, they do it for free. I would think a good bank would. I should check and see if my regular bank does, but they could of said so when they gave me free quarter wraps. If I open an account with firefighter credit union, ill just keep whatever min balance at all times. From what I have been reading, It looks like they just want a $5 balance. I will have to talk to them and make sure there is no hidden fees. I never like to pay a bank anything.

It makes me wonder. Now you're catching on, dperry. He's either that stupid or he wants everything handed to him on a silver platter. He'll never learn anything on his own. Hands on experience is the best teacher. That won't happen with him. He says that Wells Fargo counts coins in his last post. So why would he get a kitchen scale to weigh them? I can't believe he is going to mistrust the bank for one or two quarters.

I was thinking of my bank when I made that comment. They have the coin counter right behind the counter and I can see everything the teller is doing. I don't know how any other banks are set up. dperry
I have an account at WF and I've taken my unwrapped coins in once. It was about $500 worth. They made me put it all in a large, strong plastic bag so that they can send it off to be counted. After 2 weeks of it not being deposited in my account, I go in to check, and find that it is still sitting there. They didn't have the proper account information, so they didn't know what to do with it. I ended up taking it back and rolling it myself anyways. I don't think I will be taking unrolled coins back to WF, thankyouverymuch! As a comment to Vendsmarts, I too have a local CU in my area that will count coins on site. The arrangement is very similar to what you described. I've considered opening an account there for just that reason, but I've already got all my accounts with WF and I don't really want to switch. Its still sitting on the first page of the bulk vending section. In that thread, I spelled out exactly how I weigh and count my coins, which answers his questions. TKK
I didnt mean the bank would steal. My buddy is the one who takes the quarterd and deposits them. Last time I manually counted them and he was 5 dollars short. all my local credit unions either charge a percentage or are coinless. Im still looking for a counter..the scales pretty accurate but I have to divide piles and zero stuff out because it only goes up to 10 lbs And im not asking for things served in a silver platter. If you read the topic post im looking for a quarter counter under 100. I was hoping of getting a link. Ive looked everywhere.

Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk I agree. I don't know what the heck is going on here lately. I'm agreeing with havending and Casseri is agreeing with TKK in another post. It must be Christmas. LOL When I first started 4 years ago, I was looking at those coin counters. Am I ever glad I asked my bank if they had one. Never took notice to it behind the counter.
