What indicators do you use to decide to upgrade your single head to more heads?

More than $7 a month? (which is apparently average). Or do you wait until it exceeds average by some amount?

Anything better than a $10/month single will pique my curiosity.  There's typically a diminishing returns per additional head, but every once in awhile you'll THINK you were doing well with a $15 single - so you switch to a triple and you find out the $15 was because you were vending the worst product you could have been and now your triple is doing $60+.

 

It's rare, but I love it when that happens.

1)  Sales $15+/service

2)  Request for more candies or additional selections

3)  Space availability

4)  Are the sales steady and does the location seem like it has good foot traffic for kids?  If it has kids, then I will consider an upgrade to offer toys too.

We try to fill the location with machines as to not allow room for others to move in

I don't have any singles out yet, but if a 4 selection makes 20, I put an 8 selection in. I know there is a lot of debate about this, but it's what I've been doing for years. 

I'm now looking at getting singles and doubles out and add to the route.

I typically use triples as my scout machines (mostly because I happen to have a lot of them). If I get one that's consistently doing $25 or more, I try to put in a rack.
