JGEASTERN
Anyone have experience with slow moving snack sales. I have been replacing fast moving items to keep sales up. I have also considered leaving fast movers sold out in order to move more of the slow movers. If popular items are sold out will customers make other choices, or not make a purchase. Has anyone experimented with this. Problem with expiration dates. Thanks
tblake05
Best you can do is fill the machine with things that have a longer shelf life. You may need to rotate your stock from location to location to sell it out before it goes stale. I’d never let a machine get super low in order for the less popular items to sell down. AZVendor
Double up your good sellers and remove the same number of slow movers. Match the stocking levels of each spiral to how much sells each service cycle - extend your service cycles too. You want the machine at least 60% sold by the time you service it. If you do this correctly you will find a couple of sold outs and several others down to just one to three items left. That's when you are doing your job efficiently. Or get better accounts. Popular Post AngryChris
You want as many vends as possible, always. It doesn't matter what it is. Without going into technicalities, you want to eliminate slow movers. Now, you can put slow movers behind fast ones if expiration dates aren't an issue, but it's a really really unintelligent idea to replace fast sellers with slow ones. I don't know if you have someone complaining about wanting some slow movers in there but one of my tricks was to put a couple slow movers in front of fast movers. If I know I can sell at least 2 Fritos between services, and it's for a decision maker, then I can do that and fill it with something popular behind. This keeps those people happy because, frankly, they just want to know you stock it even if they never buy it. If they just request just for the sake of it, and if they are NOT a decision maker, I tell them I have tried and thrown out too many expired items and I can't stock those. They get upset but it's part of the business. People complain about anything. If no one is requesting these items, don't stock them!! Stock the popular items, stock the machine well, and increase your service cycle if you can. Collect a decent amount of revenue when you service. If an account can go a month between services without looking bare, they aren't worth it. If a full machine sells out almost completely within 2 weeks or less, they warrant good service.
