USI SM-6 boards

Recommended Posts

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I might have to upgrade some USI SM-6 boards to GVC-2. Would these SM-6 boards have any value? Most would be version 6 firmware, and 1 or 2 would be version 8. I'm trying to justify and offset the cost.  Any info would be appreciated.

I don't believe you can put GVC boards into SM6 machines.  Does USI say this is possible? There are harness connections to the SM6 that I don't think will fit a GVC board.  What are the circumstances that require this change?  Cash or DEX sales reporting?

The part number came from USI technician (1216062.247 Kit). DEX is not reporting cashless sales, for one, and these machines are in a casino hotel and are 3-wide model 3183 and nothing else will fit in the space. The other issue is that the SM6 does not support bluetooth devices which we now use with iPads. Boards DEX fine with  standard handheld and through the card modem for telemetry. I only have 8 or 9 of these things but I'm between a rock and a hard place.

I just got the go ahead to try 1 kit to see how it goes. If it works as advertised, I'll do the rest and try to recoup some of my costs selling the SM6 boards.

I spoke with a USI tech and they sell the kits.  I was also told that SOME SM6 boards do report cash sales depending on the version, but you already know that most do not.

So.. from my last conversation, i think it was about $250 but i think it was also less than $500 if you wanted to add iVend.  So i guess the answer is.. those SM6 are obsolete and hold the value of a replacement board, which is $0 for you.  I would upgrade if a board failed.
