If the machine is otherwise working, it's likely a bad display. If it's not working, remove the battery from the board for 5 minutes and see if it will come back.

It's possible you just have a loose or damaged harness going to the display.  If so, especially if it's loose, the problem could come and go simply by opening and closing the door.

Power the machine off, then plug and unplug all connections several times to clean the pins. If you find any corrosion, clean with contact cleaner.
