mission vending
TWO DIFFERENT DOCTORS' OFFICES .... Boy, if this doesn't hit the nail on the head, I don't know what does! Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint. Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement. The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week. The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn't reviewed for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then. Why the different treatment for the two patients? The FIRST is a Golden Retriever. The SECOND is a Senior Citizen. Next time take me to a vet! Leetvend
Haha! That was pretty funny. I just had surgery last week so it was even funnier. All my doctors were awesome though, had surgery only 1 week after I called my doctor.
PerformaVending
My brother's chinchilla had surgery the same day for it's teeth. The time between when we brought it in and it went into surgery was about 2 hours. That's what I call service!
Shauna
It's called overregulation and doctors CYA. Have you ever heard of someone suing their vet because their pet died on the operating table?

The Mage
We had a cat that had some weird black stuff popping up on his face, so we took him to the vet, only to find out that it was cat acne. She gave us some things to do to help such as changing from a plastic dish. Then he had this lump apear on his back, so again we took him to the vet. They removed it, and found out it was just a lump of fat. So we inadvertantly treated our cat to a dermatology treatment, and liposuction.
AngryChris
I wouldn't go to the vet if I were older than 40 years old and had a broken leg though.
The Mage
Animal hospitals are often concidered to be research facilities, and as a result they can have better, newer equipment, often at least partly paid for by another entity. (Usually the Governement.) Many people can get expensive surgery for their pet cheaply because a portion may be paid for as research. And because they are animals, there are fewer limits on what is allowed. The experimental research that some people wish they were allowed to get in on, the animals get without much of any problem. So yes, animals actually do recieve better health care then humans.
