The lights on the coin mech and validator  are not on. The display has 4 dashes on it . Service button and keypad are not working. What can this be?

Try unplugging the machine for a few minutes.

I turned the power off for a few minutes via the main switch. Wouldn't this have the same effect as unplugging it?

I'm not sure but I think it's either a bad board or a bad keypad.

I had something very similar occur on the exact same machine. If I'm not mistaken it was a corrupted eprom. I had to send it in to S Thomas & Associates to be replaced.
It was a long time ago but if I remember correctly it flashed up a whole bunch of numbers continuously as well.

By the way when I say corrupted eprom it was on the control board. So the whole board had to be sent in.

It does flash numbers after a few minutes.

So basically I need a new board?
