bdef215
Just received my MDB upgrade kit from capital for a FSI 3076 to install a credit card reader. My question is are the existing coin mech and bill validator going to be useless after I install the module?
AngryChris
If it's the module that just "converts" the signal to MDB, then I'm pretty sure you have to change the peripherals to MDB. If it's a new board then it depends on the board. How about a link to what you ordered?
lacanteen
You're going to trust a translator to operate your payment systems? Good luck with that.

AngryChris
You HAVE to use an mdb mech on that. I don't know about the validator but I don't think you have to change it now that I think about it. Are you trying to add a card reader?
bdef215
Yes. I’ll be using a Parlevel card reader. I figured at least a coin mech due to the module taking up the plug spot. Edited October 21, 2019 by bdef215
AngryChris
The USI is probably SM3 and can use 24v or 110v but I don't know exactly how that works when a kit is installed. You probably won't get any telemetry sales though.
bdef215
So the module won’t let card sales go through? I specifically Told the guy that’s what I wanted it for and he said it would work. Guess I’ll have to find out.
AZVendor
Both the coin mech and the validator have to be MDB.

AngryChris
These kits make it so that you CAN get sales through the card reader just like with any other reader but you won't see the sales data remotely. I don't know what they show but I am guessing that you'll only be able to see total card sales remotely. In other words, if you prekit, you'll either have to guess or rely on historical sales and let parlevel try to predict the sales. If you want telemetry, and the current board cannot handle it (if it's SM3, it cannot handle MDB at all) then you need a new board. Telemetry = data. Card sales and telemetry are two different things.
bdef215
Thanks for clearing that up! Machine is doing well and while data would be nice I’m really just getting it to max sales. This location is really close to my job and it’s easy for me to pop in as I please to check on things. These were starter machines priced so well I couldn’t pass up. In the future I’ll be buying newer to avoid this amount of retro fitting.
