As long as there are Americans like the Americans on this forum and others that are willing to work hard and BUILD THEIR OWN BUSINESS America will always be great not because of politics but because they are Americans. God Bless America

True but the government needs to create a pro small business climate. As of now we do not have that.

Been a interesting thread so far.

As for my take on the election, this country will survive, not thrive, in spite of either Obama or Romney. IMO we need revolutionary leadership to change the direction we are going in emulating the socialistic cradle to grave entitlements seen in primarily in Europe, our debt and a host of other issues and neither of the two major candidates possess the ability to do this.

The little urban areas in blue are the people on government assistance or want the government to do things for them. The big areas in red pay for the government assistance. Its that simple folks.

Yea, it a classic battle between "Makers" and "Takers". And unfortunately the "Takers" are winning! But socialism eventually stops working when the system runs out of other people's money! The country is broke and in debt big time. I guess we will keep limping by as long as China keeps lending to us. But then what happens when the China wells run dry or when China calls in their chips?

Collen Powell was endorsing obama even though he was a strong republican and military man. He endorsed him in 08 then again for re-election. Even after Libya which i wouldnt think the military would agree with. Just wondering if Powell would endorse a white president that has the same last four years in office as Obama?

I can believe Powell could endorse Obama on some basis other than skin color.

Heck, if Sean Hannity's views on immigration just flipped, I mean "evolved" like they did overnight this week, why can't Powell have a change of heart too?

The socialistic model is now in play. Not sure who can stop it. But who has really been successful with that model?? I mean the European model is working soooooo well, isn't it? Of course every socialist believes that THEIR VERSION is "the one" that will work! Just like a biz-op salesman peddling a multi-level marketing (MLM) "opportunity" and claiming that his version is "the one" to get into!

Welcome to the new Socialist States of America or heck, let's just call it the European States of America. Texas can be Germany and California can be Greece and so on.

Got a letter from BC/BS on Saturday informing me of a rate hike starting Jan. 1 it will be close 600.00 a month which is just shy of double what we pay now. Also our pre paid account will have a max deposit of 1500 thus raising my tax liability. This is all a part of Obama care and is nothing but the biggest *** is history. The takers are not getting hurt at all. We the payers have always had to pick up the slack but now the takers list just grew by thousands. This plan has so much regulation and cost involved anyone who thinks that they won't see a hike or reduced coverage is a fool.

Here in Alabama the tornadoes were very bad and many people lost homes and I feel for them. 3 housing projects were leveled and they are just now rebuilding them and yes it has taken too long to get started. But you should see what they are building these are top shelf apartments with pools, gyms, free internet stanless in the kitchen it goes on and on. Why would they ever want to get on their feet? Adv section 8 rent is less than 100.00

a month in this area. You and I pay the other 1000 or so. In this fine country every one has the ability to be a winner and make their own way. But what is mine is for me and my family and not for the takers.

It will be in intresting over the next 4 years.

your job pays the insurance now..once they get hammered with larger premiums you can bet a lot of places will start charging employees some of that,or like a job i used to have ,they just dumped BC/BS and went with a *** to save on premiums..my dental then went from a straight 2K a year for anything policy to just free cleanings and 25 dollar copay on anything,,a lot of other thing with medical but i never went to doctor so i don't know, i got laid off and never went back as i started vending..

I have blue cross through farm bureau and they are ripping me a new one..39 years old and never goto doctor, all my kids are healthy etc..just jacked rate up to 980 a month! I raised hell because that was a 200 dollar increase and they blamed obamacare , probably just crooks looking to gouge people and they blame that as their excuse..I may be on Obamacare as this is ridiculous.

I told them that and they kept saying "oh you better not, it will be like canada where they let you die."..then she gave me example of her uncle that had stints put in, took 2 stints a few years ago to fix heart problem,, then just went back for checkup and needs another, but he has already had his quota so they won't do another so the guy flew into Nashville at Vanderbilt and they had to do that and a bunch of other stuff that the Canadians either overlooked or didn't mention because it wouldn't be covered..cost her family about 70K to pay for surgeries..

a few months ago i would say she was the most trustworthy source and i would believe anything she said, but this bullcrap rate increase crap has made me want to just choke her,, quickest way to get me angry is rob me and then smile and tell me comparison story on how you are getting ripped too so its alright!

I've noticed a strong correlation between proper grammar/syntax and logical argumentation.

There is still a great deal of hyperbole. Democracy is not in tatters or destroyed if your candidate loses. If the person with more votes wins, then democracy is working. The larger irony is the sheer amount of money that was spent on Romney failing to reach the white house.

Yes, insurance companies are raising premiums. It isn't strictly Obamacare, it is because they have an opportunity to do it. I replaced my 25 cent mechs with 50 cent mechs, should I blame Obamacare? I did it because I could. The lack of competition within the industry is a driving factor of cost increases.

Arguments against providing free birth control are as ill informed as arguments against providing free police protection. Society benefits. When a woman does not want to have a baby, do you want her to have one against her will? Wouldn't it be better if she could opt out? You can scream that it's only 9 dollars a month, but that's a lie. Lies do not help. It also requires doctors visits and exams to be legally allowed to purchase the pills. The result is that the cost is closer to thirty dollars a month.

Which women do you think are most likely to avoid spending the time and money to get on birth control when they intend to be sexually active and do not want a child? If you guessed women that are poor, young, and uneducated, you would be right. You can scream at them, you can label them with nasty names, and you can make a real A-hole out of yourself. But when they have the child they didn't want, and don't have the resources or desire to raise it, you'll be left with a young criminal. That criminal will need to be caught, prosecuted, and jailed. Clearly, several poor children survive a bad environment. However, the percentage of them that end up in a life of crime is dramatically higher than those born to parents who were ready, willing, and able to take care of them.

I don't care if some woman, whom I do not know, has sex. It is NOT my right to know. I'm not paying her nine dollars (or thirty) a month to have sex or not have sex. I'm contributing to a fund that is preventing the creation of unwanted children who are at high risk for abuse, neglect, and criminal behavior. I'm contributing because as a society it is vastly cheaper to pay the price of providing birth control to thousands of women than to have one additional career criminal born.

Some women who are not sexual active use the birth control pills to regulate their bodies natural cycle. If the cycle is not functioning correctly, it can create problems in their life. If a man's ankle does not work, I would expect health insurance to cover a correction to his ankle. Some women who are on birth control are staunchly pro-life. They live in a bad neighborhood and know that each day is a risk. If they are assaulted and ****d, the birth control can prevent conception. No abortion. People who are staunchly pro-life should support the availability of a service that can proactively help rape victims prevent unwanted pregnancy. Are they so pro-life that they would root for a pregnancy in that situation?

I don't get offended by many things, but the sheer ignorance of right wing attacks on birth control is enough to set me off. If you believe you have a right to tell a woman what she does with her vagina, go out on the street and say it to her face. Health insurance already covers ED. If a man can't get his penis to function the way he wants, he deserves medication. If a woman can't get her reproductive organs to function the way she wants, she gets labeled a ****. ED and pregnancy are both entirely natural functions of the body through the course of human life. Suggesting that one deserves medication and the other does not is moronic and I strongly doubt the IQ of anyone who maintains that position after serious consideration. People who truly want a free market would argue that neither deserves coverage unless the insurance company wishes to provide that product. Unfortunately, as long as employers are involved in health insurance it will not be a decision between one customer and one insurance agency.

-Ron, you probably typoed it as H O M O, and the filter is set to be very sensitive. It might be sensitive enough to edit H M O as a possible variation. It will probably censor my posts for words like "va-gina", which are NOT dirty words.

the thing about stints is BS my best friend is from canada there is no quotas but it might of taken a long time to get to the surgery. the obamacare thing isnt government care like medicare/medicaid or the VA even its private insurance plans sold

thru an exchange system in combination with a subsidy as a small biz owner my guess is your taxable income is very low

you can qualify for up to $22,000 a year in subsidy to buy private insurance thru obamacare. sorry dont know the full details of it

but search around

birth control should be free, people golpher about taxes but u know how much more tax $ it costs for a kid vs the pill? k-12 schooling for 1 kid probably worth life time of birth control for 100 people

IMO one of the reasons Romney lost is the Republican Party stance on trying to control what people do in the bedroom. Frankly it's nobody's damm business what consenting adults do in the privacy of their home. If the Republican plank eliminated its social platform positions and focused exclusively on the economic differences between R and D they might have had a better shot at winning.
