Havending

I'm not quite sure what to make of this but I was looking at our traffic data today and noticed something quite odd.

In the section that tracks the keywords people use to find us on search engines, it shows "havending" as the 3rd most popular search word!

Yep! First is obviously VENDiscuss, then "vending forum", then "havending"! In fact, it is the only username found in the top 500 search terms.

Odd indeed.

Just in February alone, 274 unique visits to TVF were the result of someone searching for "havending".

Wait. You know what people used as search words when they first found TVF on [insert search engine of choice]?

Yes I can see all search words that resulted in a visit. Some are pretty strange too.

Did some research, I'm a professional web geek by day, anyway it appears that havending is a popular word used throughout a lot of Asian websites, so if the unusual traffic you are talking about happens to be from Asia, that would account for why they are searching for it and who it is.

What does the word mean or refer to?

All of the sites were written in Asian characters for the most part, except for havending which was always in English. I didnt bother translating any of them as I was just looking at how people refrence the keyword and the corresponding regions.

Yeah, that was a fun process. Searching, I found a lot of pages just because people kept spelling haven't as havend.

It does show up on Chinese pages, (I have an app in my browser that tells me where a website is coming from,) and tried to use Google to translate it. I found at least 3 people (on Chinese sites,) obviously using it as their name. I found a blog with the name, but couldn't tell if that was the name of the person who had the blog, or just the blogs name.

I only did a little looking, but couldn't find out if that was just a name, or if people were using it as a handle. (Nom de plume.)

I also found a references to havending.com, one of which said the registration for the name expired on 2/22/2012.

I attempted to register it, (don't worry, I was planning to offer to give it to Havending,) but it said it was already registered. So maybe it expired, and the person re-registered it, or somebody else did. But there is no website for it.

Didn't check on .net, .info, or anything else.

That was the extent of my try.
